Jase had been thinking.
He'd been wondering what the risks were of actually showing her who he was and letting himself open up to her---letting himself tell her everything that she needed to know because as far as she knew, he didn't give a damn about her. To be honest, Jase liked to pretend he didn't because it made his open wound seem more like a dull scar; he couldn't even say her name to himself because it hurt too much to do so. Forgetting about her was the easiest option, he'd decided that only minutes after their encounter so many months ago, and he was sticking to it. Or at least, he was trying to. The fact still remained, though, that every last memory was still fresh in his mind as if they'd all occurred yesterday; as if he was still young and naive and perfectly happy with his life.
