The forest stands tall and lush here; ancient trees reach weather-twisted arms to the sky, fighting monster-like storm clouds back with their interlacing fingers. Shadow seems to lurk everywhere you look, but it spills calmly, coolly, inspiring a sense of stealthy calm or protection rather than unease. That is, if you've forgotten what kind of creature might be stalking just out of sight...Abendrot is a land cradled by the dark woods on all sides; in the center, some of the larger trees stay behind to reveal a small plateau - a citadel where this pack can gather and defend itself from invaders. There are, of course, softer sides to the land. Clearings here and there allow the sun to throw down its rays in incongruously resplendent gold showers. Ignore the lingering scents of blood spattered here and there along the borders: those do not concern you. The river on one edge of the territory is playful enough when it hasn't been gorged by violent rain. You can choose to note the ragged claw marks raked down tree trunks and the forest floor as friendly "Home Sweet Home" signs, if you wish.

All who treasure loyalty, order, victory, and the occasional indulgence of raw visceral pleasure are welcome, once they've been approved by the ever-watchful eyes of Abendrot's Alpha. But keep one thing in mind: no matter what your motive, this is not a fool's Paradise. This is the land of soldiers, assassins, and spies. This is ABENDROT.

Make up your mind quickly and prepare to prove your worth. You wouldn't want to add to those blood spatters, would you...?

The onyx and sliver beast could not say he expected Enigma to pounce upon him like a cat. Her teeth aimed for his scruff, however he used the last seconds of her leap to roll quickly, not bothering to evade her. This resulted into her crashing into his chest, teeth landing high on his throat and Marx ignored the warning signals that were blaring, although muted, in his mind. He gave into the silky, warm sensation that was her touch upon him. A guttural, instinctual sounds left his throat, a minor growl, but of the pleased variety. He lifted his head forcing his throat into her jaws if she didn’t let go and let his pink muscle evade his black scars and caress the edge of her ear just the once. He then withdrew and chuckled darkly.

It does seem that my life is in your jaws…but will you give it to me?

His slate eyes narrowed slightly, but the pupils widened and her ears folded back as he continued on while she took in his first question.

Why should you? I betrayed you and I know the very sight of my opens that wound every day. For once in my life, I put myself over my pack and even the sweetest revenge was not worth it. Nothing was worth losing my pack, losing your respect. Everything I’ve done since I came back was to reclaim what I once had; I may finally deserve a place somewhere. I may have made up for my crimes- but I don’t think I’ll ever make up for disappointing you. I’ve spent months trying to figure out a way and I realize nothing will come close, so all I have left is what I can offer….

Marx paused, swallowed and heard only the twin beats of their organs.

My life.

Marx relaxed and kept his slush optics on what he thought was most important to him in this world. He believed in Karma and would soon find out if he had truly been forgiven or if that feat was even possible. Enigma could choose to rip out his jugular if she wanted to and underneath it all, Marx knew there was a flicker of hope for their friendship and perhaps even more, but right now he watched her process his words, enjoying the feel of her touch like it was his last pleasure in this world.
It may well have been.
