The moment Niaki returned her attention to him, Muse gave a trill of appreciation. She had even apologized for her distraction! Well, he certainly couldn't blame her after that. Muse may not have been the most gentle of souls on the mountain, but he was a lover of pleasantries at heart. Unnecessary rudeness was tiresome. Just because he supported his sister's cruel passions did not mean he entirely understood them.
Perhaps that was what he should tell her, to answer her difficult question.
The blue-streaked Night Walker's head rotated back up, and this time his neck curved and bunched comfortably like that of some long-legged water bird. His eyes were nearly squeezed shut again by his smile.
"Iiiii..." he drew the nominal, tasting on his tongue. "I am like a cat... who loves to lie in sunlight and eat fish. I like simple things, nice things. Running and playing and hunting is fun too." There was truth in that last, but he added mostly for the benefit of his sister. He knew she'd have an ear turned in their direction.
"What do you like, Niaki?"

Mystral was indeed listening to her brother's conversation in between teasing and being teased by Renzo. She knew that Muse was a bit of a wimp compared to her, but he didn't get in her way, so she didn't mind it. She trusted him.
When Renzo deduced precisely what she'd been planning for him, Mystral laughed out loud. The sound was deeper than her usual shrill tones, and rattled in her throat like gravel grinding on stone.
"You teach me my own game? Very well. How it begin?"
