Good point Jeff. In addition though is that part of the story that dealt with the mortgage company's refusal to rewrite the mortgage, as many have done during this downturn in the economy, because her name was not on the mortgage contract. If you have a mortgage, it is probably a good idea to make sure that you and your spouse have both signed the original note. Mrs. Jackson could have made mortgage payments had she been allowed to refinance at a lower interest rate, so I am led to believe.
