ooc: only for those who can post 500 words + please and err, if anything is spelt wrong, I'm trying to type with my cat sat on my arm :/ lol Lifthrasir was really regretting her decision to come here. It had been a crazy, spur of the moment thing, a decision made without thought or reason. But, here she was, staring down at the river thronged with romancing couples. The very sight made her nervous, it made her want to turn tail and run as fast as she could. But, the copper lass was a stubborn soul, she was here and here she would stay, whether she liked it or not. It was back at the pack that the big, northern she-wolf had made the rash decision. Watching, and listening, as Nix brought new life into the world. It had made her heart ache for what she had loved and lost, for her old mate and the thought that they would one day have pups. Since he had been so cruelly torn from her, she had wandered the world alone, but listening to the cries of the youngsters had made her yearn for company. If she had another by her side once more, maybe he could heal her pain, heal her sorrow. He would never replace her beloved, but maybe he could help her to move on, and one day experience the joy of her own pups, ones that would survive in this warmer land. Walking with apprehension, Lif approached the rivers' edge, choosing a spot relatively clear of others. She took a deep drink to steady her nerves, staring at her reflection as she did so. Her face was well-formed, though heavy-set and thick furred. Her muzzle and forehead were coated in a dark chocolate brown, fading down to a more coppery colour by her throat and lower jaw. Her eyes stared back at her, coloured like pale corn and tempered by sorrow. She turned away, the harsh bear-claws scar on her right cheek and neck exposed to the rippling waters. She was proud of her coat and her fine, strong form, but she wasn't worried either way. She would be doing the choosing here, she would have the final say. The lass wanted only the best, a male that caught her eye was fine, but he had big paws to fill. Her beloved had been a particularly large male, healthy, strong and full of vigour. He was a steady soul, he was not cruel nor vindictive, but neither was he a soft creature. Like Lif, he knew all too well the pain and harshness that living in the north brought. Raising her head, Lif gave a soft chuckle. Here she was, looking for a northern wolf in a land she'd found to escape the north. She'd travelled far to find Blossom Forest, this little haven far from the cold, bitter desolation of her homeland. Of course, Lif would always love the pure, untempered magnificence of the mountains, but this land was at least safer. She would not lose so many friends here, it was a bright new start in a kind new land. It was why she'd chosen the Cold Summers pack. The land was even and mild, it was a good place to rear young, a good place to live and survive. Drawing back from the river edge, the copper wolf took a curious look around. There was an old tree nearby, it's thick roots making a sheltered little den. Lif trotted over, curling her thick frame into the leafy space, her back against the tree and her chin resting on a root. It was surprisingly comfortable and offered a good view of the surrounding land, making it very hard to sneak up on the lass. She stayed a while, staring out at the clear, cool waters of the river, but soon the heaviness of sleep overtook her. Her eyelids drooped and her breathing slowed as she drifted off, dreams of long, cold nights and dull days flickering in her brain. |
