I was telling a retired St Petersburg cop friend of mine that I was going to a retirees meeting. He said' you're going to a what?'. So I explained to him about our Retirees Association. He couldn't believe we had such a thing as there's nothing like it for St Pete PD. He was impressed, jealous, envious to say the least. He wished he had such an organization for himself.
Why am I telling you this? I guess I'm trying to get you to appreciate what a great thing we have. But most of you just sit idly by and occasionally complain or post something on here. Yet you won't make the effort to come out a couple of times a year, eat some free food and catch up with old friends you used to work with for decades. There are NO excuses for not coming to at least one or two lunches/meetings a year other than you live too far away or out of state. I think there's over 1500 retirees. Yet the same 50-70 or so come to the lunches/meetings. Don't let this great thing go away. It's too important for your retirement. And the camaraderie and fellowship at the lunches/meetings is wonderful. Please join us at a future lunch/meeting. I promise you won't be disappointed. Replies:
