well, i was pretty much pleased with myself just for feeling sure that it was a hoary and not a common; i've found it difficult in the past to be so certain but this one is most definitely paler than the others; i can even pick it out as being different without the binoculars
got another very quick look at it this morning but, of course, it was choosing to sit with its head stuffed into a divot in the snow to get the seed captured there
generally, it appears to be the same size as the commons, its back is distinctly paler, and the bill is quite stubby Replies: There have been no replies.
