aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

Kalgalath is standing but I can tell that he would like nothing better than to lie down for a while. He looks exhausted. There's no telling how long it's been since he's slept or rested, anything to get off his feet. I am pretty tired myself, tired and sore, but I would give my den to him in a heart beat because he was there for me when no one else was. When I was trying to defend Munashii for Paranoia, the absent alpha that I fell for, he was there as a close friend and ally, my only ally in those days. When he disappeared, I went insane. I lost my cool and gave in to the darkness. That was my first dark trip in Blossom. I killed a lot of innocent wolves and I still hear their cries in my sleep. I was close to that dark place again recently but Akina returned and I tried to fight. For her, I would fight anything. And then Hitler came to challenge Sin and I took up the fight, knowing that I needed this as much as she needed the break. I fought and won, possibly sending Hitler to his death bed but it did more than sate my appetite for destruction, it pushed back the darkness, at least for a little while.

I know that Kalgalath recognizes me because he starts wagging his tail immediately when he sees me. He smiles and I slowly return it, though it's a hesitant smile since I'm still hurting quite a bit. I didn't have time to stop and clean my wounds before coming to meet him at the border. His laugh is familiar and warmth returns to my body. He apologizes for leaving. I nod in acknowledgement. It happens. Family is important. I left Munashii because a strange group took over. They called themselves night walkers and only wanted wolves who would defend them while they slept...which was during the day. They drank the blood of other wolves. They were ruining Munashii. I couldn't stick around and watch, so I left. My voice is tinged with sadness. I still miss Munashii like a missing limb.I let a bitter laugh fall from my lips at his last comment.

Oh, just getting rid of a little excess energy. I took on a challenger for the alpha female. I'm Beta male here, guess that's just part of the job. Even my smile is bitter now as I lower my gaze, not wanting him to see the sadness seeping back into their golden depths. Sin is dying. There will be no alpha female soon enough and I don't know what's going to happen.
