There are very few moments in my life in which I have been outright floored by a creature, so surprised indeed that I have almost managed to fall over from the shock of it and yet- this odd little creature had managed it. What was a King? Violet eyes blinked with unashamed distress as I looked upon the boy with his silly, floppy ear. Had the world become so uncultured that loners no longer even understood royalty or basic hierarchy? Not that it mattered so much in this moment. After all, outside of my Pack I have little need to give any orders of any kind, yet even so and really I make no apologies for these next words, how was it possible that even new to this land, this fellow had no idea who I was? Perhaps I have simply become used to my reputation preceding me, after all, I may have retired from my rather decorated career of...removing others from this plain of existence, yet that illustrious affair had been followed by my Kingship, the greatest this land had ever seen and honestly I was almost a little annoyed to discover that tales of my grandeur had not exceeded this boys ears. Then again perhaps he was just foolish. Loners are rarely intelligent, although, this one isn’t exactly unlikeable- he has a boyish charm I suppose, despite him not being particularly large, he seems capable, well built. Maybe he would do well after all, although I could hardly live with myself if I didn’t manage to educate the poor fool somehow.

I grinned, lips pulling into an easy smirk as I sat before him, violet eyes resting against his own as I considered my own words and the best manner in which to place them before him. Perhaps he simply misunderstood the term...King, indeed perhaps he needed a far more simpler word for his less complicated mind.

“Does Alpha mean more to you then? After all, an Alpha and a King are the same thing, the leading wolf, the dominant force, honestly they all mean me whatever way you look at it. As for Diveen, that is the name of the particular pack I have lent my name too. It is the pack of plateau and ravine, of sun and sky and vastly superior to any other. Perhaps you will see it for yourself one day, it is home to many others. It is family.”

I added more as an after-thought, though indeed the words were true. Diveen was home...now. without Trenus it was all I had left in that manner. I turned my gaze from my companion for only a moment, considering these thoughts once more. I had always expected to die within Trenus, to simply lay down in the sun beside my Zeivah and go to sleep atop my throne and not wake up. I should die a thousand times over, if it would give me even one day more with my mate...with my infant sons. I snorted, irritated at this nostalgia once more before turning back to face...whatever his name was. Evidently he found me undeserving of that. Odd fellow, though as I said, likeable. He would make a rather excellent Pup-Sitter in fact. Indeed I was half inclined to offer him a job. He spoke then of this game once more, my gaze narrowing in suspicion. What type of game had no winner? What was the purpose of a task that involved no victory or spoils? I stared blankly a moment. Well, no one was watching and indeed I am intrigued. I lowered my muzzle, grasping the fish tail before tossing it into the air.

“Is that it? Now what? Is it supposed to do something? This is a bizarre game though I dare say the children would enjoy it, if not for its ridiculousness alone”
