Disaster has struck!
Stupid rabbit. My face still smarts after that day that I tried to hunt with the other wolves and ended up getting kicked in the eye by a rabbit. Now my stomach is still growling and my face hurts. Could this get any worse? I decided to go back to try my paw at hunting squirrels after the incident since at least they don't kick...much. I managed to catch one but I ended up with a mouthful of fur after the dang rat bit me on the nose. I ended up letting go with a rather loud yelp as I proceeded to bury my nose in the dirt and hope I don't get rabies. Once the stinging started to go away, I snorted a few times to clear my nose and then started tracking again but this time, the squirrel trail turned out to be to something much bigger. I peer through the bushes, watching the dark female as she moves down to the water. A new friend! I don't hesitate to launch out of the bushes and wind my way down to the water myself. She seems to be waiting for someone so I go to stand facing her, my tail wagging.
I don't know fear because I've lived an innocent existance till this point. I don't know that there are things to fear out there. Maybe some day I'll learn or maybe I'll be one of the lucky ones who go through life without being hampered by such petty things as fear and life changing experiences. All I know is how to play and be carefree. I also know how to make friends but I'm not so good at hunting. I notice her hazy eye but I just figure it's supposed to be colored that way. Who ever knew that blind wolves exist? I've never met one so I certainly don't. Instead I try to focus on her dark eye just because it's more comforting to look into rather than the hazy eye. The dark eye is warm and soft with a motherly quality but the hazy eye is just...well, hazy. I smile my biggest smile and prick my ears. Hi, I'm Banner. Are you waiting on someone? Can I wait too? Not like I have anything else to do.
Well, I could be hunting some more but so far that's not working out so well for me. I notice the large scar running down her hazy eye and I tilt my head, eyes bright with curiosity. What happened to your eye? Did a rabbit scratch you? My eyes widen at the thought of such a thing. Poor thing! I only got kicked but to think of one of those nasty claws getting me in the eye instead of the foot...it sounds horrible! My ears droop in sadness at the thought. No wonder her eye is hazy! It's probably still crying from being scratched.
