Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

I needed to see more of this new Moladion, see more of the land that had changed so much. My paws carried me from my home in Spirane to the east and did not stop until I was there. As I journeyed, I looked and listened to all around me. I noticed the pack lands, but dared not get too close for fear of an angry scout who would chase me away though I had no intention of trespassing. I was curious about the goings on of the other packs, but it was not my job. No, I would leave that up to someone else. I was a hunter and I was happy with my lot in life. Thankfully, it seemed that Moladion was healing nicely after two years of pain and sorrow. The wolves were rebuilding their lives and the prey was starting to come back. Already I have seen herds of deer, warrens of rabbits, and flocks of birds in the thousands going about their daily lives in the summer sun. I had to admit, seeing such life and beauty made me smile and trot with a happy gait.

It was the sight of dust rising not too far off that drew me closer. Someone was hunting by the sound of the growls and grunts but there was so scent of blood so I assumed it wasn't a success. Well, I really didn't have anything better to do today so I veered towards the lone oak tree where the scent of a familiar wolfess reached my nose. Belinda! My heart fluttered in my chest at the thought of the pretty wolf. I took a deep breath and pranced forward, trying to look like I wasn't too excited but still happy to see her. Of course, that didn’t' stop my paws from making me practically run to her with the giddiness of yearling. I stopped and gave a happy whine when I reached her and wagged my tail. "Belinda! How are you? What are you doing here all alone?"

She must be the wolf who had been trying to hunt before. Was she hungry? I looked around to see if there was any chance of hunting for her, but the failed attempt before had scared everything away and warned the rest of our presence. We would find no food here. I looked back down at the lovely wolfess, my heart twitching and my breath catching in my throat. She really was a pretty girl and I was happy to know her. "If you want, perhaps we can move to a different location and hunt if you are still hungry."
