aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

I sense her hesitation, her doubt and it's all I can do to fight the desire to ask her what she's thinking. Something tells me it's really nothing or she's just fretting over usual stuff Akina would fret over. She's constantly depressed over something or someone. Isn't it about time she was truly happy? I want to laugh at myself for thinking such a thing since it makes me a hypocrite. I've been the depressed psycho, pushing everyone away, afraid of my other side, afraid I would hurt someone I care about. I've punished myself again and again, first with Jaylah then with Miya and now with Akina. I've rejected them, pushed them away, telling myself its for their own good, always for them and yet it was a foolish endeavor. I can't continue fighting what I want. I want Akina and I should have her, as long as she wants me. She deserves happiness. Maybe I don't, but that's not the issue here.

I feel her skin pressing into my own flesh, desiring the closeness of another. I can sense her helplessness, her longing to feel safe and warm. I hold my ground, standing strong and steady, wanting to give her that security, that hope for a better tomorrow. She asks more questions, feeding her own insecurities and I answer back from the heart, delighting in the lifting of her spirits with every answer. Suddenly her body tenses, stiffening and I catch the rigid stench of fear. She pulls back, her brown eyes wide and helpless as she looks into my questioning gaze. At her words, I frown, wondering whether to laugh or if that would seem rude. Deciding against it, I sigh and look deep into her beautiful eyes. We'll take it day by day. If he comes back, he may confront me. If it turns to violence, I will defend my right to be with you as long as you want me at your side. The moment you turn away, I'll relinquish. I wish Titan no harm but I think he has hurt you long enough. I think he has had his turn and he should think about what you deserve, what you truly want. Even as I say it, my eyes are searching her own, asking the silent question. Does she truly want me?

Fear feeding her actions, my body falters in defeat as she steps back, giving into that fear. My eyes are already pleading with her to come back, to press her milky fur back into mine so I can feel whole again, so I can feel her happiness. She looks back over her shoulder, doe brown eyes searching the darkness of the alpha's tomb, as if seeking guidance from the blind leader who sees nothing now. When her eyes turn back to me, they're still helpless and vulnerable, seeking guidance from a new source this time. I listen to her questions, my brow furrowing as she drops her gaze, sensing her hesitation, her doubt once more. Anger rolls beneath the surface but I force it back. This is no fault of hers. I could stand here and blame Titan till my last breath but it would do nothing but hurt Akina in the end. Instead I look up, searching her gaze gently. Do what I did, Akina. Follow your heart. Fear can keep one from living and that's what it did to me. I've been scared to tell you, scared that you would reject what I am, who I am. Scared that I would become what I fear and cause you more pain than you've already gone through. You do what feels right for you. If it means waiting on him to return to you, then I'll step back and protect you till that day. I won't force anything on you, Akina. I am yours to own, yours to throw away. My voice breaks painfully on the last part but I force it out anyway.

My eyes continue to search her downcast features, waiting for her eyes to open again and her mind to clear. I know that she needs this time to think, to reflect and I'll give her all the time in the world. If it means I must leave her alone, I'll admire her from afar but never will I fully leave her. I made that promise to myself and to Sin.
