As soon as he entered, Serris could feel the tension flowing from Kobato. Was she ill again? His brow furrowed slightly, the wrinkles in his dark pelt creating shadowed valleys and highlighted peaks. Was it something he did? Said? Surely she had called for him, so it’s not like his presence was unexpected. He glanced her way every once in a while, hoping to decode that which flowed through all females. Slight annoyance flashed in his orbs at the thought of those slender-boned demons. He had dealt with more than enough for his lifetime.
Suddenly, Kobato was next to him, rubbing her shoulder against his own, or at least what she could reach. The smile on her maw didn’t succeed in making him joyful as well. He was still tense concerning this newcomer, especially with Kobato just recovering from her near-death sickness. Once again announcing his nickname, the girl made some innocent comment about dragons and their non-existence. Surely she was just kidding, or he had raised an idiot? Either way, before he could shoot a comment her way, Kobato was back to talking, and this time about his stench. Testosterone bitch, get over it. His pools shined at the girl as he realized she must be talking about Alleria’s perfume now mingled with his. But that was a story for another day. He quickly turned his head back to the newcomer, still waiting for the long-overdue introduction, when once again the mottled lass interjected. Aindreas, huh? Sounded like a girl’s name.
His first impressions of the alabaster boy surely weren’t stunning, but his next dialogue would change Serris’s whole outlook on the boy. He began with a term of respect, obviously not knowing his Alpha’s name yet, and Serris admired his decision to be so formal at such dangerous borders. And he continued his speech the charcoal regal could tell the boy had been a loner; no well-used voice sounded that way. But he simply kept his complexion calm, unreadable, as to not give anything away he didn’t intend. A slight pause and he continued, sputtering words of the past. Interesting. Needless to say, Serris was quite impressed with the lyrics that came from this stranger. Aindreas, girly name may it be, would find himself quite at home within the border if his wit and skill matched his conversations.
“Although I do not object to such addressing terms as lord, it is only proper to introduce myself as well. I am Serris, Alpha of Munashii Gekko. It has been long since I have been with such a well-worded adversary, and your speech has calmed by blood concerning your character. Still, I will have you know that is not the same pack you were raised in. I will not hope to live up to your former alpha, as it would bring dishonor on both of our souls.” He stopped to eye the lighter boy once again, features cut from steel. “We shall be meeting again, boy, I assure you. Do not make me regret this.” And with this Serris gave Aindreas one final glance before turning, rubbing against Kobato in a silent farewell, and disappearing into the brush from whence he came. He would expect worth from this lad in the future, but for now he was welcome to find the family he so desperately spoke of within his borders.
