Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

She sits, she watches, I sit, I watch. That is the way this game is played, this sneaky game of Guardian and Monster. One would not think a female so pale in colour and lovely as the driven snow qould ever be given to be anything other than the beauty she appears, then the colour of snow and lilac have come to represent in these lands threw the efforts of these so-called Angels. Now, truly, I know little about such winged creatures as these, yet it was the Angel King himself who came the day they tried to take Illuminada from me. Heyel had stood beside me, snow and lilac and I have not forgotten that once we stood shoulder to shoulder like brothers in arms. I do not associate myself with packs- I have my own desires, my own ways to deal with such things and I cam content to be responsible only for myself. Yet, sometimes it is a pleasing thought to know that others fight for the same side, others who wear such colours with a little more honour- but for now I will keep such judgement reserved. For all that is said about this mighty and powerful Queen she seems very...normal. A clever ruse I am sure, one I will not allowed myself to be fooled by and yet nor will I allow myself to be entirely blinded by hearsay. Perhaps she is not anything that she seems. It matters not. I am here to watch over the happy grey one who has decided to tell us of this ‘splash game’ with an exuberance almost child-like before proceeding to introduce herself and her children....who are staying in Litherum?

“I am called Iblis.”

I murmured softly, dark eyes curious as they looked upon her. Was this, who she was, her personality....all a result of the fall of the sky? Had she become so entrapped within the grief of losing her children that she had become almost child-like herself in response? Either that, or this poor, pleasant little creature had no idea her children did not wait for her. I suppose it was pity I felt, sadness, an inability to be able to do anything for her and yet- though I felt the words on my tongue I held them back. Ignorance is bliss they say and she seemed- happy, in her delusions in the least. I simply smiled and nodded once more. Guarding her heart is surely as important as guarding her body from harm, I can do both. I lifted myself to my paws once more, small, neat limbs moving with ease and agility across the earth to follow the grey female in her search for whatever it was she sought, one eye rolling back every now and then to watch the white female with curious intrigue before I leapt up and over the grassy knoll with confident ease. Our leader however, had managed to become distracted once more, Rainbow’s grey form flying in all directions as she chased about a fish she seemed to have no hope of catching. I chuckled softly at the scene before the girl seemed to decide the rules should be announced. Splash, snap, splash, snap....oh my. Well, it was not exactly what I believed it would be, quite literally a splashing game, a game designed for children.

“Yes, I see you, I’m watching you.”

I assured her once more, scared features pulling slightly upwards. If Ruvindra held any plans of ambush, of injuring this delicate creature she could think again. I meant the words wholeheartedly. I was watching Rainbow, she would be safe, safer still if I went to stand beside her and indeed, though I did not truly favour soaking myself in childish mirth- I was unwilling to allow the other female to close. Even hero’s must take one for the team sometime and so I would. I trotted down the slippery bank, nimble and quick as my breeding did allow, hopping neatly into the shallows beside the grey one. Maybe they would not sing songs about this deed, or tell small children tales of my glory- but I would remember the day I stood in the shallows and played with a female, indulged her in her world of fantasy to keep the demons at bay. I would remember. I would know her to be safe and that is all that really matters, isn’t it?

“Alright, let me try.”

I raised one paw, ears turned towards Ruvindra still, curios indeed as to whether or not she would engage in such sport before I let my paw drop, water flying upward to land in my eyes and nose as I snorted, shaking the dew from my pelt. Huh. It was not as entirely easy as one would perceive. I tried again, teeth lunging, snapping shut on the flying droplets that sprayed inside my mouth. Yes, i suppose I see how this could entertain.

“Is this right? Am I doing it?”
