i remember when i thought there was more
A fresh wave of pain seems to wash over her at the sight of the mother and daughter pair. Would she ever have another litter? Should she? Sometimes when she thought about having more she would tell herself she didn’t deserve them, that she had botched motherhood already. The young wolf in front of her was almost an adult, far from the age her pups had been before the meteor. Yet it is enough to draw her pain to the surface. Olwen, Eos, Selene my sweets, I’m sorry, she thinks to herself morosely, I’d go back in time and die with you if I could
A friendly smile graces her elegant golden as she gazes at Camelot’s daughter. It was a far cry from how she was before when her face would brighten, full of life and love, but some faint glimmer of her old self seems to spark in her eyes. It is obvious to Doe, even though the girl holds some of her mother’s qualities, that Camelot was her sire. Whether it the tan coloring, golden eye, or Does own memory him but she could see her old friend in the girls smiling face. “It is nice to meet you. My name is Doe.”
Attention is drawn to the older white female when she speaks Doe notes the genuine warmth filling the smile that adorns her pale face. Camelot was lucky. This wolf, so far, seemed nice and Doe was happy that he had found someone like her to hold his soul. A golden ear flicks sideways. How is she? How does she answer that? If she were to speak honestly she would say she was shattered, broken beyond repair, lost. She would cry and beg for comfort - for anything, contact, something.
In this instance she chooses to lie. It is a small one, nothing serious, at least for none but her and really it is to spare the female and her daughter. “I am okay, enjoying the warm weather. How are you two fairing?” Doe watches the mother – daughter exchange quietly, a sad longing in her opalescent blue eyes at the pain watching this simple conversation unfolding creates.
