At Leisure Lake the sun is always shining and only a few stray clouds roam the open sky; paradise is the one word that really describes it. This beautiful lake is clean and refreshing, the very best place to swim and fish. Pups are known to play here while older wolves watch at the side, engaged in their own activities.

Lady Violet was young compared most mothers, her peers mostly not even seeking a mate let alone a full family, yet that didn’t mean she wasn’t capable of looking after her pup. The slender femme, her light pelt decorated with greys and sandy hues, maintained a sharp posture with alert ears constantly swivelling on the look out for danger. Her expression was one utterly collected, calm and dignified as she trotted gracefully through the forest. Her breath came out slightly harsher than usual through her nose, in huffs to try and cool her body down in the heat of the day. A little way ahead ran a tiny ball of fluff, her opposite in every way. Only their identical brown eyes showed their relation. Rex, her son, was black as the darkest shadows, with a simple white stripe on his chest. His pelt was as fuzzy as hers was smooth, paws proportionately large compared to the rest of his body; it was a sign of the muscular male he’d grow into, but for now made him stumble along in an uncoordinated mess.

Rex stumbled ahead of his mother, bouncing through the undergrowth as fast as he could. His body strained to keep up with the pace his mind wanted to go and his paws often got in the way, but his stubby tail kept its circular wagging position ongoing anyway. The pair were headed down a familiar route, to Leisure Lake where they’d been a couple of times before. The Lady wasn’t too concerned about her pup’s distance ahead, knowing the lake as a safe place mainly populated by young families relaxing. She kept a quick eye on the ball of fur, keeping either sight or scent firmly in mind to make sure she knew where he was, as he found his way out of the trees and into the open space. She sighed inwardly as he dashed towards the river, quickly covering ground now that no obstacles stood in the way. He disappeared from her sight as she made the last few strides out of the trees herself.

Rex looked around with wide eyes, always outgoing and searching for someone new to speak to. Most of the time it was just him and his mother, and as much as he loved her it got boring for the young pup. He jumped excitedly, letting out a few barks at nothing as he ran a couple of small circles, before spotting a figure lying in the shade a little way down the shore. A single tree splayed its branches out, reaching the greatest distance it could to collect the sunlight. Rex was ignorant of the heat, tongue lolling out to one side as he turned to the figure and darted straight in that direction. "Hey!" he called out, wide grin on his face as he jumped in front of the male. Not minding personal space, he stood practically between the other’s paws, panting, "What’re you doing here all alone?"

Lady Violet exited the shade, immediately feeling the sun over her pelt, and took a moment to close her eyes and bask in the warmth. The lake was a relaxing place to visit, the only place she’d trusted herself to go since Rex was born. She was very curious about the rest of the forest, the secrets to be found in areas she’d never been, but her pup’s safety was now her first priority. A high pitched bark caught her attention and snapped her back to the present. Her ears flicked around and eyes snapped open, intent on finding out what her irresponsible pup was doing. She spotted him a short distance away, alongside a male in the shade of a tree. A little concerned, nervous that strangers might hurt a lone pup, she immediately headed over. The slender femme stopped a respectable distance from the male, within sight.

"I apologise for his behaviour, if he disturbed you," her gentle tone spoke to the stranger, not wishing to get on his wrong side. "Rex," she scolded, voice quiet but stern enough for him to recognise what she wanted. He grinned cheekily at her and bounced over to stand in front of her, but continued to watch the male, hoping his mother wouldn’t make him leave.
