Diccon (Cicada x Khar'pern)

Rules

• The Vulcan Peak is where homeless mares come to live as a sisterhood. Stallions may not live here except as captives or companions for the Leaders.

• Warriors keep mainly to fighting, Thinkers keep mainly to raiding, and Politicians may do both, neither, or act as diplomats. Members may issue their own battles and raids, but should generally consult the General, Codebreaker or Prime Minister for permission.

• All major decisions are determined by vote, but the Prime Minister maintains order within the Peak and has the final say.

• Elections for leadership positions will be held every TLI summer, provided the qualifying criteria are met.

• You can find detailed information about how the Peak works on the Rules page.

"I can't belong in the dirt."

Beschea
Arris
"I can't belong in the dirt."

She would never know what it was like to have a family again. The instant her father in blue and white skin had fallen to his death at the bottom of the great cliff in her home, she had perhaps sworn to never be a lover to a man, and to be a mother would just fill her with more heartbreak than she could have possibly needed. The only thing she had ever seen from her mother and father, once they had children, was that they had to watch their offspring grow up and leave. Whatever had happened to Celeste was completely unknown to the painted girl, but she had heard through soft whispers, that her only full brother had been sick from the moment he had been born, and he had not lived to see his first week.

Arris had thought her mother was strong for carrying on with motherhood after the death of her first born- but she had thought that it would have been for the best if Ava had gone on with her life with another man in another land. The only thing that her father brought her family was pain and heartbreak.

The painted warrior-girl could not think that she was made for such a life.

She had come here knowing that the only expectation of her was to live and keep others alive. Arris could do just that- as long as she was not expected to partake in the art of child-rearing. She knew little of the champagne woman, and even less of the things that she had seen. It would have surprised her to know that her father had a name that had echoed throughout the islands, for her father had been known and almost respected amongst the islands... but now the girl with the mottled skin was fatherless, and yet another king in the islands had died.

Shifting her weight and turning so as to keep constant eye-contact with the other woman as she steps away from the edge of the cliff, Arris keeps a steady eye on the peak mare. She was certain that the other woman would not outright attack her, but perhaps it did not hurt to be a little careful. At mention of never being seen before, the mottled mare is thankful for her welcome and smiles meekly at the other woman. “Thank you... I arrived a few days ago with my friend, Iolar, and her daughter.” It seemed as though Arris had single-handedly added to the population of the peak by unintentionally setting up camp on the maintain with the silvery mare and her newborn. “My name is Arris.” Daughter of Array and Ava... a princess that had lost her kingdom long ago.
