The forest stands tall and lush here; ancient trees reach weather-twisted arms to the sky, fighting monster-like storm clouds back with their interlacing fingers. Shadow seems to lurk everywhere you look, but it spills calmly, coolly, inspiring a sense of stealthy calm or protection rather than unease. That is, if you've forgotten what kind of creature might be stalking just out of sight...Abendrot is a land cradled by the dark woods on all sides; in the center, some of the larger trees stay behind to reveal a small plateau - a citadel where this pack can gather and defend itself from invaders. There are, of course, softer sides to the land. Clearings here and there allow the sun to throw down its rays in incongruously resplendent gold showers. Ignore the lingering scents of blood spattered here and there along the borders: those do not concern you. The river on one edge of the territory is playful enough when it hasn't been gorged by violent rain. You can choose to note the ragged claw marks raked down tree trunks and the forest floor as friendly "Home Sweet Home" signs, if you wish.

All who treasure loyalty, order, victory, and the occasional indulgence of raw visceral pleasure are welcome, once they've been approved by the ever-watchful eyes of Abendrot's Alpha. But keep one thing in mind: no matter what your motive, this is not a fool's Paradise. This is the land of soldiers, assassins, and spies. This is ABENDROT.

Make up your mind quickly and prepare to prove your worth. You wouldn't want to add to those blood spatters, would you...?

I couldn't bring myself to admit this meeting had gone according to plan. I knew my usual strategy of dealing with large crowds, not talking, had not been implemented, and now I was cursing myself. Of course I understood the sovereign's order to accompany him, but I didn't have to give an answer that would obviously rally him. My paws felt glued to the slick grass, but I pressured them into lifting my body into the air. He had finished with a stricken glance and a sharp tone, berating my words I had given in reply. Amazingly, I didn't physically recoil; merely just gave myself another mental push for having not been more concise. That glare was just more of a reason why elaboration was such a useless concept in our world. I briefly wondered if I had shirked my duties as a healers for not tending, or even commenting on his wounds. I had noted plenty of crimson on his bone-hued coat, but there had been no signs of even needing to move in. Besides, my medical practice was nothing like Verity's, and I'm not sure the necessary bloodletting would have benefitted his wounds. Still, I knew now that I could've been more careful with social tasks. I could feel the anger roiling in waves from him, and I could detect hot- not cold- fury. This comforted me slightly; it would be easier to stay, or leave, if his anger was such. There was no trust behind Kershov's eye, something that had never actually been present in his gaze. He turned, began to move away with a comment for me to follow, or face my end. Maybe he was looking for my weakness, or repentence for what I had said? My pillars began to stretch as I inanimately began to follow after his stained form. There were two options he had given, and I obviously did not wish my death just yet. I had other unrevealed intentions with my life just yet, and whatever minor setback I just faced would not hinder me. The souls here may not yet be familiar, but the landscape was, and I had no trouble navigating after his ghostly frame. My King may be looking for some sort of submissiveness I had always played before, or an apology. He wouldn't get a single a word of it, though. I would gladly assist him in his search for new blood, but that was it.
