Carden Alvar Nature Board by Bob BowlesNight fliers

I've been out 4 nights out of the last five trying to see the Great Gray owl in the area. Not yet been able to find it but on my drives home in the dark, there have definitely been insects flying into the headlights. Yesterday, I picked a moth corpse out of the front grill of the car. The temps were barely above 0 degrees C.

Moths really are incredible.

While I'm on right now, I will also mention that this morning I heard the distinct call of a sandhill crane. A few minutes later, a robin started clucking and whinnying. First of the season for both here in Uphill.
