Romance is in the air...this is probably the most beautiful and scenic place in Blossom Forest. For the athletic and determined to come with their mates, for time away from pups. Only adults may come here; some of the ledges are too far apart for teens or pups to cross and some too high to scale.

&& the Silence never Ends

Family called you by your name but friends and lovers came up with those special names. Nicknames, as they were referred to. Some were cute, funny, downright hilarious, and sometimes just plain rude. How them came to pass could be based on experiences, personality or just because. Some were shortened names, random words or maybe something to describe you… Genysis to Gen, and many others but the boy had always been referred to as a Wall Flower, the silent watcher. His was a personality trait the was very obvious even before you met him… His demeanor was sullen, depressed and silent. He could express more than that but that was his most common emotion.

The pack meeting had ended hours ago but it was still noon high. That left enough time to go find a place to rest for the night but something egged the boy forward; an unknown force. His fur rustled in the gentle breeze that passed through the conifers and down to the land below. His raised his head as his eyes closed, enjoying the cool breeze surrounding his body. The breeze died down and he continued forward. The lush grass of the plains and valleys was sparse under the shade of the silent beasts. Needles and pinecones lay scattered around from their plummet to earth with no particular pattern or order. He enjoyed it the natural beauty of land that he called home. The scents of his pack mates were becoming few and far between; an area not travelled by most. The trees had thinned out of a clearing lay in front of him and Rainbow Cliff beyond that, rising into the sky and disappearing into a thin layer of mist. That’s my destination… His voice heard by none.

He paws carried him across the valley gracefully and quietly. He paused momentarily as he hit the border, there were still few miles ahead of him and food would be scarce. Push through it or go back and hunt? He hadn’t eaten since the night before and his figure was already thin enough. He turned back and headed towards the trees, make it quick… whatever was drawing him to the Cliffs was becoming stronger by the second… His form moved quicker and quicker, his nostrils flared at the scent of rabbit. He stopped and crouched down; the white fur gleamed in the light as the rabbit moved for more food. Chiron steadied himself and waited till it got close enough and then Crack. The rabbit squealed for a second but it was quickly cut short by the snapping of its neck. Chiron picked it up and carried it to the edge of the valley. But he felt like he ought to share it with someone but no one was around… I’ll take it up there with me. He decision wasn’t really decided by him it was his gut that kept telling him Keep Going!

His form moved silently across the area and he crossed the border without hesitancy. The rabbit dangled from his maw the body had become cold but food was food. The Cliffs became clearer and clearer as he moved forward and before he knew it they were in front of him. A female’s scent infiltrated his nose as he came closer. It was recent of only an hour or so ago. The cliff loomed up in front of him, he had no fear of heights just confrontation. Chiron judged distances fairly well and so the climb up would be pretty simple. He jumped up onto the first ledge the next jump was a fair distance and a few stones were knocked loose from another and the femmes scent was the only one that had recently come up. She must have slipped when she landed, an loose chunk or rock probably. He jumped and landed his claws digging into the malleable rock and soil. There were about 10 more to go if he skipped a few which was possible. When he finally reached the last jump he saw the immense leap he would have to take. He shook his head, the girl could do it, he could do it. He rocked backwards and launched himself, his hindquarters were stronger than most. Jumping had been a regular thing where he had come from. His front paws reached out and latched onto the cliff side; his back legs found holds and pushed up. His body came up and over the edge, his paws landed on sturdy ground and he stabilized himself before moving forward.

The fea’s scent suddenly became stronger, she was nearby and he was going to find her. He followed her scent with the rabbit still in his mouth. Her figure was lying on top of the smooth ledge near the edge. She was surveying the area but he was hidden from view and the wind was in his favor. He smiled as she rolled over to take in Blossom Forest in whole. Her breathing became more subtle, she had dozed off into a light slumber.

He watched her but he felt like a stalker and so he padded in the opposite direction. He stayed close by but kept to himself and didn’t watched her. When he sat down a sudden sound caught his attention, it had come from the direction of the Spanish girl. He jumped up still holding the rabbit but he dropped it when he reached the edge of the trees. The rock was deserted but a wet outline of her form remained. He cocked his head, where had she gone and what had happened? Hello? Is anyone there? His smooth lyrics flowed from his mouth, and a worried expression crossed his face. He padded over to the spot and sniffed it, sweat. She was scared or running from something, it wasn’t hot enough to sweat like that. He looked around and saw her slide under a tree. He slipped away from view and grabbed the rabbit, time to confront her.

He shook out his fur and walked towards her. A howl erupted from her body informing everyone of her night position. Dusk had fallen and twilight was upon them, a time between night and day. He looked around no one was in sight but her. He barked to let her known he was there. He came into view but stayed a few tail lengths away. He waited silently, he wasn’t one to talk or start a conversation. The rabbit plopped onto the ground as he waited for her. Why didn’t the Silence ever end?
