Ajax moves quickly when he hears his father call him. It's a jarring gait, somewhere between a trot and a jog. Really, it's the fastest he could move without surely tripping on his own legs and falling. And what good would that do? It was better to be late than to lay helpless at the foot of some tree. His singular visual eye plans his root around the trees and rocks. He felt exhilerated to be back on the mainland. The island life was too isolated for Ajax, and to be honest, the black hooded wolf had not trusted the Diamond King and thus rarely stepped through the brackish water to Glorall. The island did provide some more cures for things and the salt water seemed to cure many ailments of the skin. He had heard about the death of Finley, an apparent Uncle who chose to live in Diveen rather than reside with his brothers due to the Imprinting that Ajax had heard so much about. It was a strange concept for Ajax to fathom and he often wondered if he would ever find his? How could he be a good mate to a wolfess that was most likely far less crippled than he? Or even a good father? Still, those thoughts were years away. He was still a pup, learning as much as he could about the various weeds and plants that were readily available to the residents and friends of Glorall. For example, he learned the other day that ginger was capable of soothing a sour stomach after he learned that Monstura had caused vomiting. It was a little bit of trial and error and most of the things he had tried on himself had led to mild discomfort. He trusted that his nose could tell the difference between something truly toxic and something more benign. Still, it would of been nice to go to a trained healer to learn some of these things. The greatest of healers were known to be in Diveen but after the murder of Finley, Ajax doubted that Weylin would agree for him to be taught there. Perhaps Spirane would be a better place to ask to go. Surely they had healers there. Either way, he slowed down when he reached Weylin. A wolfess known as Natalya had already beat him there, but it was of no consequence to him. Ajax knew that his Father was understanding enough and besides, he had arrived before others. He tilted his head as he caught Natalya's last words and then looked towards Weylin with an inquisitive eye. "Where are we going, Father?" It was perhaps the first time that Ajax had used the moniker to identify Weylin. It was still a strange word on his lips to direct towards the Pirate King, but Bedwyr had been dead and gone long enough. It was time to remain living in the moment, not in the past.  |
