Zev smiled as Blaze said that Seoras would have given pity over a dead rabbit. He understood his point of view, without even meeting him yet. It made sense to feel bad about how one killed something that seemed so innocent and wouldn’t hurt anything themselves. They would just sit there and mind their own business, not watching out for a vicious lupine that would prepare for attack at any moment. The last thing they would see was a set of paws being thrown into the air, gleaming eyes looking up in terror as fear froze them in place.
Snap out of it Zev thought quietly to himself, knowing that thinking about that wasn’t going to do him any good. Sometimes he would be like that, but rarely, and someone who spent time with him for days would have a hard time seeing this small detail hidden inside of him. His face lit up brighter as the sarcasm kept floating on the wind. Listening to Misty, she began to learn her input on things, and just nodded. He finished his detailed image about his life as a loner, and it became real for him once again. He looked to the others for their reactions, Misty having a look on her face that was difficult to read, and Blaze flickered her ear to say that she agreed with him. He focused his orbs on her as he asked her a question and she thought out her response carefully. She had lived in a pack that was evil in a sort of way, and he ruffled his brow. Troubling, learning that such packs that would rip and mutilate any wolf they could get their claws on were out in the world this very moment. If that could happen, then what else?
Misty spoke like she had read Zev’s mind; they had the same terrible look on their faces that pitied all wolves out in existence that had to deal with these kinds of lupines. He exchanged looks with her then turned his cranium back towards Blaze. It was her turn to move the conversation along and she did so without instruction. Zev admired her readiness. Her lyrics rang for a second in his mind before he began to think about his answer. He saw Misty just give a shake of her head, and by the way she was looking off into the distance, she was thinking about what she could have said herself. Best not to press. He thought about his family for a moment, but nothing came to mind. He couldn’t remember his parents, not many of his pack members, only the brother he had known that had disappeared so many years ago. What had happened to him? “I also do not have any.” was all he said. Not much to explain, and feeling bad that they couldn’t give any explanation about her question.
Zev looked up towards the sky and saw it dimming. It was getting closer to the evening and the day was almost over. Perhaps a couple more conversations to get to know each other better and then perhaps they would wrap it up and move on to suit their own needs.
