It had not taken long for Zildjian to join their small traveling party. Alcide sized up the masked male as he approached, noting his brutish size. He could certainly understand why Moonglow had elected him and his mate as the hunters of the pack – he would certainly find it easy to orchestrate a hunt and take down prey large enough to feed the mountain pack. Alcide dipped his crown in greeting, shifting his weight slightly before moving forward between the two wolves who would accompany him on this important task. “We shall,” he answered, tail flicking in a motion that beckoned them to fall into step with him. He lengthened his stride into an easy jog, setting himself half a pace in front of his company, allowing them to flank him as they made their way across the expanse of Moladion towards the waterfront pack – Glorall.
Alcide traveled quietly, wishing to focus on the task at hand. His ears flickered about atop his head, listening to the forest around them. Out of the corners of his eyes he watched Swallowbane and Zildjian, glad to see that neither showed any signs of fatigue during their journey. They were both strong wolves, worthy of the ranks MoonGlow had entrusted them with. Of course this was their first real test to prove themselves to the alphess, and in turn Alcide felt that this was his first opportunity to establish his worth to the pack. It was important to him that the pack viewed him as a leader as well, for he knew that if ever MoonGlow was unable to perform her duties she would turn to him for help. And he had to be strong for her, always.
Time passed like the ground beneath the trio’s paws, and eventually the distinctive scent of the waterfront pack began to seep into Alcide’s nostrils. Glorall’s borders were close at hand, and the multi hued leaderwolf slowed his gait, ears pricked forward and nose sniffing about for the scent markers that this Weylin would have left to distinguish his homelands from the rest.
Standing tall, he glanced around at Swallowbane and Zildjian in turn before nodding slightly to invite them to join him, and then lifting his head to the sky. His lips formed a small circle and parted slightly, releasing a long howl, summoning the king of these lands. He bid Weylin, or someone of equally high standing, to come forth and take an audience with him and his pack mates, for they had important matters to discuss.
