Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

I took in these moments of silence, clearly they would be the last I would have for some time. A loud yip quickly interrupted my moment. I tried to ignore it, pretend it was just a trick of my ears when he heard the thumping of paws that generally meant I was being approached. My body stiffed, my muscles tensing, usually such sounds were followed by a beating, someone who was mad about something I did or said in a past argument, holding onto childish grudges. I always found this funny, because I was the youngest yet always seemed the most mature among the group that seemed to enjoy maliciously plotting against me. I swung by body around, back end leaping up while keeping my front white toes firmly in place as my pivoting point. My white tipped tail slashed through the air with the movement. She smelled very different, good but nothing like from my old home. The strange flowery scent that flowed over the older wolfess straight into my nares, I probably had quite the strange face as I attempted not to sneeze from the sheer strength of the smell. I didn’t like this one little bit. Couldn’t she tell I was content being alone, nearly to the point of happiness despite having lost so much in so little time?

I knew it could only get worse, these girls liked talking, all girls did. She opened her maw and I had to greatly resist rolling my eyes at her as she rambled on and on about something dealing with who I was who she was or something. She shoved her name in the jumbled words so fast I felt lucky to even be able to decipher that. But she said she would hush, be quiet, good, already felt a headache coming on from all her blathering. It was clear she was an adult. I was only a Teen but I felt I was probably more mentally mature than the fem before me, or at the very least more calm. I wasn’t sure what to do with the blonde and tan fem that stood before me, she was the first other I had ever met and already I was unhappy. It probably showed on my face, but I didn’t care, I wanted her to know how I felt.

”Right… Akri… Well I’m going to get moving on.” I would try being nice, it wasn’t exactly in me to be outright mean unless they were to me first. Something told me that wouldn’t be enough to deter the wolfess into leaving me alone. She seemed far too, I didn’t know what the word was, perky I guess to be letting someone just wander by undisturbed. Still I hoped she would, I didn’t want to be bothered by anyone, let alone a wolfess. I turned around again, deeming her not a threat to my health or I didn’t mind, my white toed paws carried me further into the crater, I only had to wait though, I just knew she was going to pursue me. I had never met anyone who didn’t follow me around as not to annoy me, surely she would be no different.
