The first thing Aindreas did when Serris finished was look away. A respectful sign, yes, but a concerning one as well. Was he still not comfortable with his Alpha? He didn’t expect any miracles, but after this time Aindreas should not be so concerned with submission. The boy had proven his worth; why was he still trying so hard?
When he started his monologue, though, it seemed that the lad stole the very thoughts from the regal’s head. But what of this responsibility, and punishment? He was right to be patrolling the borders, and Serris could not punish him for doing his duty to the pack. He chuckled lightly to himself at the thought of how child-like Aindreas really was. He was no pup, but his mind worked in much the same ways. Everything still shone black and white for the boy; Serris’ world had swirled to gray a long time ago. It was almost adorable, how sincerely dedicated Aindreas was to Serris. You’d almost think he had a crush on the ebon brute. But of course Serris couldn’t voice these thoughts, for obvious reasons.
The second part of his speech, though, dropped the merriment from the King’s features. Kobato? Left for good? He sharply snapped his gaze away from the warrior and off to the not-too-distant border. Kobato...? Surely this was just another adventure, a daily romp that would come to an end when the day herself did. It had to be. So many emotions bubbled within the brute, and his chest ached with the turmoil of it all. He’d have to think over this later, but right now he had to get Aindreas out and about. And now it wasn’t just for strategic reasons. Serris needed to be alone.
Serris opened his maw slightly, intending for words to flow forth, but instead a laden sigh flowed over from between his canines. He kept his portals stone cold. “Indeed.” It was all he could muster at the moment. But it gave him enough time to recompose himself and return his gaze to Aindreas. “But it seems there are other matters we must attend to. I’m sure Kobato knows what she’s doing.” A lump formed momentarily in his throat but he swallowed it. “Your punishment, since you crave it so much, is as follows. You are to stop being so formal with me. I am much more than just an Alpha, you know.” He gave a wink, but it came out half-heartedly. He hoped Aindreas wouldn’t take this negatively. It was just... this news about Kobato...
He ripped himself away from his thoughts, shaking his skull and staring down to the ground. A deep breath and he was back to normal. Sorta. “As for the borders, you need to understand something. I greatly appreciate your help with Munashii’s security, but your duty as a pack member spans more than just border patrol. Do you understand?” He could’ve, and should’ve, said more, but Serris couldn’t really do much better than this for the time being. He gave his vocals a break and waited for Aindreas to respond.
[OOC: Wow, crappy post is crappy. Sorry.]
