At the densest section of the forest, there is a brief clearing where a steady flow of water streams down the slippery stone staircase. The water here is cool and refreshing. Staircase Falls has been rumoured to be the place where reality is met by magic; where peaceful spirits dwell. They are rumoured to have healing powers that are used to help the desperately hurt, though no one has experienced this, except for, perhaps, Kaive.

The sun beat down onto the earth with quite a lot of force; heat rays scanned the bottom of the areas from afar, and it was almost too hot to walk. The dirt burned those pads of the lupines walking into the sun, and it seared through the pad in pain. No animals in their right minds were to be out and ‘enjoying’ this kind of sun. Water; lupines needed water right about now. They needed to soak, chat with their friends, perhaps create new ones. All knew it was much too hot for activity requiring effort. One could even hear the cicadas chirping in the heat, which was a sign that they were thriving. Shade was sought out during this time of day, the sun being so incredibly hot. Much too hot. The wolves with the darker coats were to be miserable, knowing that darkness attracts heat. Poor wolves. One could only imagine what they were to be feeling as of late.

A vixen was walking through the dense forest in this heat, a white lightened with a few black splotches underneath the white part of her coat. She was on her way to Staircase Falls, wanting to cool down her hot bodice soaking up the sunshine. It would feel so good to dip one’s feet into the luscious water. She hurried through the terra in search of this place with some of the coldest water. She was also thirsty, though that would wait for when she cooled off. She carefully maneuvered her light bodice through the trees, careful not to snag her pelt on one of the lower brambles. She growled and bit back a harsher snarl when one did dig into her skin. She quickly removed it and continued. The fae was in the process of cracking out of her shell. She was a very shy wolf, one could understand that when they came across her. Having met another wolf and talking to her, she felt better about being able to stand up for herself and receive the respect she desired. She would lose her shy self one day, but what lupine would she be after that?

She lifted her cranium into the air, starving for a breeze that would never come. Her tassel twitch at the tip, trying to scent the water or hear it ahead of her. The aspen trees gave no directions in which way to travel, so she just kept going further. A squirrel crossed her path, and though she was hungry, she was in no mood to try and catch it; it would provide unnecessary sweat she dearly wanted to avoid. She jumped over a fallen tree on the ground, and the scent of the water drifted through the air. She stopped, and indeed listened for the sound of water rolling over the falls. She heard it in the distance, and smiled. She padded forward, dipping her head in greeting to a female that had crossed her path. Did she really just do that instead of shrinking away? Well...

She began to trot forward, ignoring the heat for this moment in time and sitting graciously next to the falls that glittered their way down the side of the terrain. She dipped her front paws into the liquid, and sighed in relief, feeling the water move in between her claws. She unsheathed them, letting them slip into the cool water that delighted her so. She looked around with her pools of light blue, scanning and seeing other lupines enjoying the water with each other. She wondered if a lupine would join her today. She would try her hardest not to shake or shrink away, and she thought that she could be brave for the first twenty seconds or so, then chose which side the wolf would be on. She layed her back legs slightly in while setting her front paws into the water fully. It moved through her fur and she was delighted.
