She was prompt to wake, my little grandchild, a wolf full grown and yet still so small. It is odd, truly that she is so dwarfed by her sister and yet I cannot begin to understand the ways of genetics, not truly. Even so I allowed myself a small smile as she yawned, reaching down towards her as her tail waved in nervousness and she moved about in respect to my space, that she understands her place and offers respect is a truly good thing, yet, when no others are present I am content to allow her a little liberty, reaching for her myself to kiss her cheek in a soft, yet fleeting lick, just for her, my little Angel and soon to be the first Keeper, straightening myself up after this moment of affection and back to business once more. I may be her Master, but I am also her career, her guardian in the absence of her parents and I hardly wish for her to grow up believing she is not loved and appreciated. I smirked at her words, gesturing for her to walk beside me as I stepped forward, moving towards the outskirts of the pack. She was quick of mind, intelligent, brave and indeed she knew of the world, her blood making her deserving of all the knowledge I had to give and indeed, though I am not willing to admit it- I am getting older, I need to pass on more then blood and the ways of the Assassins, when I am no longer around the Art will need a Keeper, a Master of rule and lore, one to whom all can turn when they cannot turn to me anymore and though I am hardly ready to lay down and die just yet, it is time another learned a different type of Art, yet one in the same. Micteca......I trusted, for the knowledge she would hold would be as ancient and secret as time itself, some indeed, would be only for her and her own apprentice when the time was right, such are the secrets of our ways. Perhaps she would never be tall, but in a way, she would stand above so many for what I aimed to teach her. Malina had never been suitable, Ava was not made for this type of study, Azrael was to bold, Khaleesi needed action as did Lucid, but Micteca....I knew already she was thoughtful, intelligent and as I said I have chosen her- because I trust her, because she will do right and learn quickly.

“It is time, Micteca darling, for you to beginning your training within our Art, yet for what I have in mind for you is a training no other has yet received and it will be your choice to uptake it, if you do not desire what I have to offer you, you may turn it down.”

I didn’t believe she would, yet the Keeper was a chosen position, not one that could e forced upon or sworn into, unless Micteca truly desired it, such effort would be futile. I slowed my stride, allowing her to keep pace as we strolled together in the early morning light, the sun’s rays gleaming from both of us as we wandered in the sun and light of Diveen, my voice soft as I spoke again, yet clear and assured, violet gaze looking towards her, seeking her reaction as my words rang out.

“There is more to the Art then training to kill, another side entirely and it is that side I wis to teach you about. Immortal as I am, i will not live forever Micteca and someone needs to keep them in line, the Assassins, when I’m not here to do it.”

I grinned, teasing, attempting to put a somewhat better light on a world in which I no longer existed- dim as that would be.

“I wish, Micteca, to train you as a Keeper, a Master of the knowledge of the Art. It would be your duty to learn all of our rules and our ways, know and understand all of our stories and legends and when the time comes, advise the Assassins, for they will come to you with questions on morals and on ethics and you must have the answers for them. It is a big job and you are a small wolfess, but you have your Mothers brilliant mind, baby girl, you will be the first to be trained this way and when the time is right you may choose another to learn from you. You will have knowledge no other does and you will be hunted for it I am sure, but I am offering it to you, darling, because I believe you are capable. Do you?”

I smiled, one eye lifted, waiting. She was young, yes, but she was born of Eris and Castor, born to the sands of Trenus and of the Angels. Maybe she was small, but she was so much more. She need only have the ambition to desire it and so much could be hers.
