The Way of the Warrior

The femme’s gaze had lost its intensity, and as Aindreas had inhaled her scent, the fae’s audettes had flattened and her brows had scrunched up. Once her audettes perked up once more, she glanced into his eyes, and Aindreas smiled, though it was short lived as another wave of tingling sensations ran through him. Why did the fae have such power over his body functions? How was that possible? The brute felt vulnerable, as if he did not have control of his own body anymore, and was slightly shaken by this strange development. Had he contracted an illness? One that was messing with his nerves? It was possible, though he did not know much about medical afflictions…
As he asked if she would like to go hunting with him, she responded I would love to go hunting with you… Her words thrilled the snowy titan, though he didn’t show it. In his mind, the brute tried to convince himself that he was glad for the simple reason that he would no longer have to hunt alone. But the brute also felt a tugging in his chest, and he wondered briefly if he was having a heart attack. And then came another thought, one that had never floated through his brain at any point in his life up until now. Was it possible… that he had feelings for the fae before him? Was Aindreas even capable of feelings, capable of love? What was love? Aindreas had never experienced any sort of it, and the closest that he had come to being loved was, perhaps, by Kalgalath in a paternal way. But he had never been in love with anyone.
The fae shook all of a sudden, as if the breeze had chilled her bodice. As the fae looked up at him, the brute swallowed, noticing for the first time how long and luscious the fae’s lashes were. The fae’s gaze dropped from his eyes toward the ground. She apparently did not have feelings for him, if she kept dropping his gaze. Gen clenched her jaw, and Aindreas wondered if he had said something wrong or hurtful, but she swallowed and said I am fine. Thank you. Aindreas smiled at her, but it was half-hearted. The fae’s vocals had become robotic, and Aindreas did not know what to say. The awkward titan was saved by the continuation of the fae’s speech. Do we have to wait for Serris before we go for a hunt? I could go for a meal. Aindreas’ smile became fully realized, and he shook his snowy cranium.
“Serris will most likely take a little while, since he has to deal with your brother first.” Lifting his nares to the sky, Aindreas inhaled, smelling the scent of another stranger at the border. This one was clearly a fae, but with many scents upon her. One of them… one tugged at his memory, but Aindreas ignored it for the moment. “We should be fine for a quick hunt. Let’s say a goat or something of equivalent size? Large enough for the two of us but an easier prey so that we can return here quickly.” His stomach rumbled, causing Aindreas to laugh. “Looks like my stomach does not want to wait.” And with that, his haunches powered him forward in the direction of Prey Plateau.
