THE SHiP WENT DOWN
The mare can’t help but chuckle softly at the young man. “I suppose it would…” The words are gentle, her ears flickering softly. It’s a distinct shift from the moments before, when she feared the odd little colt with the cold that seemed to follow him around. The cold still troubled Altena, as did the gaping hole in his chest that didn’t seem to serve more purpose than annoyance. She could be troubled, but the colt was undeterred. A question comes to the forefront of her mind, one that makes one ear flicker forward and another move back, then drop and flicker. It’s a silly thing, but it tends to happen when the dun mare thinks too hard.
She doesn’t like the idea of having someone else in her head. It confuses her slightly, but she’s quite sure she follows what the colt says. “Does she have a name?” She figured it would be easier to address the furry creature if she did, in fact, have a name. The mare can’t help but reach out to the snake and the child… wondering. The idea that the colt can control the serpent is comforting, and her curiosity can be more open. It helps, in Altena’s mind. She just needs something to set her at ease.
“You should come visit some time. Ailistor is an interesting woman.” The words come with a soft nod, a soft flick of her tail. She wonders at the words—his mother is… gone? Altena is young still, just hovering around the three year mark. She nods softly once more. “I know what it’s like… mine wasn’t around either.” The conversation appears to have taken a far more serious turn, and Tena can’t help but set her teeth to her lip at the idea. She doesn’t miss Dresden like a daughter maybe should… it didn’t come naturally to them, the mother daughter relationship. No matter, she figures. There are far better things here.
