”love I’ve always believed is what you make it, it’s what you need it to be for yourself” hearing her mothers words Claire stared up at the vibrant blue hued sky as puffy clouds hung low in the lazy mid afternoon. Thoughtfully the young girl watched in silence soaking up her conversation she was having with her mother. It had started with asking why her father never seemed to come around and then of course being curious Claire questioned her soft spoken mother about why she stuck around a man who was clearly in love with another who never bothered to make friends in the herd. In a sense Claire figured it made sense. Her father adored the one who was exactly like him and because this was the case he ended up passively looking past what was right in front of him. And that was Sylvia.

”I don’t understand mother, what you need love to be is what you’ve got?” looking over at her mother who was also laying down only she wasn’t on her side and instead upright on her stomach with her legs tucked neatly beneath her. Her blonde eye lashes picked up the suns rays along with the silken strands of her blonde mane. Claire admired how beautiful her mother actually was and how she seemed to have no idea. That or she knew and just didn’t flaunt herself because she had found her love and was okay with how her life had turned out to be. ”what love is to me is a vow honey. A vow to stay with someone because no matter how bad it may seem at a fleeting moment you couldn’t imagine living without them for even one second.” her mother breathed out slowly opening her eyes revealing her intense blue gaze that Claire found herself staring into at little moments during the day. She dreamed of having her mothers prudent nature and calm nature. She almost yearned for it which was why she rarely ever found herself leaving her side as grew out of her yearling stage and into being two. ”but mother how can you love someone with such passion like you do with father and you still after all these years don’t know if he feels the same? You said true love both partners feel the same way not just one”

Lifting her head now and rolling to her stomach Claire studied her mother noticing how a gloss like haze glistened In the pools of her eyes. ”Midas loves me in the best way he can” blinking now her bother seemed to snap herself out of whatever day dream she was having and stared directly at her youthful daughter ”for me babe that is enough”.

Going over their conversation just hours before Claire wandered down the shoreline in search of the comfort the lapping waves brought her. All to often the young girl found herself wanting to be just like her mother yet something in the back of her mind told her she was more like her father then she realized. It was a thought that she pondered in her mind throwing it back and forth like a child did with a ball. Right, left, right left. The nagging desire to finally have a conversation with her father again and get to know him the real him. The man he hid deep down that roared his head with ever wrinkle of worry and sadness on his face and how gold his gaze looked one moment and just like a strick of lightening it disappeared. Claire was thrusting for knowledge and unfortunately her mother could not answer all her questions.

Hearing the waves race towards her and release as the cool water wrapped around her ankles Claire took a huge gulp of salty air resting her ears backwards listening. Between the soft whisper of the wind and the gurgle of the water she heard soft foot falls send sand in different directions. Curiosity took over her which caused her to turn her head. The aureate form of her father came into view. Her heart started to beat a little faster realizing that this could be a chance to actually have some father daughter time and before she had a chance to double think it Claire started towards him only slowly when she neared. Offering her nose to his Claire noticed that like her mother he also had blonde eyes lashes that matched her own. It was something that the three of them all had it common. Excitement bubbled deep within her but when she went to speak she noticed that Midas’s mind wasn’t here. He had a distant feel to him much like her mother and it cause her to sigh and turn her eyes towards the sea. ”father why are you so sad all the time” pausing Claire gulped unsure if she should have been so forward but could not help herself from speaking again ”it’s…odd you’re a part of me just like my mother and yet i feel like we’re total strangers”
