A Darketh Past
IP: 209.6.242.74

Darketh straightened his auds and felt his green eyes widen. An unwanted pup! Oh my. He thought. "Hey look, I'm really sorry to hear that. But at least you weren't starving in the middle of a lava pool." He meant that jokingly. The fae asked him about his life. Darketh sighed. Well, He mused silently, I can't ask Oak about her problems and not excpect her to ask about mine. He almost smiled. "I'll tell you about me."

"When I was a pup, I had everything a youth could ever want. Loving parents, abundant prey, a roomy den, and lots of siblings. Life was perfect until my fourth autumn." Darketh sighed. He didn't want to tell her what happened Darketh knew if he didn't the past would never leave him. "Humans built a –what did they call it again? Oh yes, a 'sheep pasture'. Or a 'farm'. To my dad it was like a dream come true. He leaped into the air and yipped 'we'll never go hungry again! Every meal will be a feast! Thanks to those stupid slow sheep!' But my mom insisted that he just hunt regular elk. Dad ignored her and hunted the sheep. He even brought me hunting once. It was fantastic. never before had hunting been so easy. My dad said that humans couldn't hurt us. They had these boundaries called 'laws.' But just like us wolves, sometimes humans ignored the laws and stepped over the boundaries. There wasn't many sheep left, and one time when my dad left the den, there was a crack like thunder and… I never saw my dad again."

Mother and my brothers and I left our home after that. My brothers starved because my mom always saved the biggest portion for me. She said it was because I was the runt of the litter, but Jim, my brother, was, so I think she favored me. While we were passing a large forsest, an unexpected forest fire spread Mom said because some humans forgot to, um, I forget. My mother died, and I turned my heart into stone and wandered around the place, looking for a human free forest. And, wa-la! Here I am."

Darketh sighed heavily. He absolutely hated talking about his past, but now that the truth was out, he couldn't help but feel as if an extremely heavy weight had been taken of his shoulders. Darketh looked deep into Oak's wonderful, beautiful pools. Today had been so jubilant, why ruin it with his past? 😅
