The Dancing Fool, Jester of Glorall
I'm a falling stone in a world of glass,
I'm a ticking bomb with a smiling mask.
She laughed. No, it was more a giggle, a mere tinkling of laughter. A trickle of joy set loose from dusty and cobwebbed bonds and when she spoke his name, it sounded just as good as it did coming from his own mouth - it was a warm whisper from within his own mind.
It made him feel like sap. Yes, definitely like sap. Gooey, sticky, oozing. Not at all unpleasant, if you liked that sort of thing. Brutus wasn't entirely sure what to think, but the mental image of surrounding her like a mosquito preserved in amber did cross his mind. Only if she wanted to, of course. How strange was that? Usually, Brutus paid no mind to what another wanted or did not want - he just went on doing as he pleased. And yet, if he did something that this lady did not want, he knew it would feel very, very wrong.
It was, in essence, a chain squeezing his heart - one that was far too easy to ignore when he was looking her right in the eye.
"Latika," he repeated her name, but instead of the hushed whisper she spoke his own name with, his reiteration was loud and boisterous - presented for the world to hear. "Well, you know, it's a pretty enough name. However... if you like, I think you could very well be the Queen of Everything. It's sort of like being the King of Everything, just... more female. Being that you are a lady and all."
He offered for her to be his equal, because Brutus's selfish and narcisstic mind simply couldn't comprehend anything being more important to himself than himself. There was a sturdy brick wall blocking him from reaching that realization, no matter how many times he bounced off of it.
"Teach you? To hunt?" he questioned, a single brow raising above his black-marked eyes. He puffed up his boney chest and turned his gaze briefly to the canopy of trees above them, but even as he pretended to give it consideration his traitorous tail thudded away. "I suppose I could! What would you like to maim and devour? Squirrel? Mole? Fish? Ohh, rabbit?"
