At the densest section of the forest, there is a brief clearing where a steady flow of water streams down the slippery stone staircase. The water here is cool and refreshing. Staircase Falls has been rumoured to be the place where reality is met by magic; where peaceful spirits dwell. They are rumoured to have healing powers that are used to help the desperately hurt, though no one has experienced this, except for, perhaps, Kaive.

it did not take very long for rhae’s peace to be disturbed. this did not surprise her, as one should always expect the unexpected. though she was still enjoying the wild water and the piece of mind it gave her, she nevertheless tilted her skull at such an angle as to allow herself to observe the approaching stranger. there were two of them. the first was a young pup, just old enough to be out on her own. the second was a rapidly aging adolescent. only, the latter seemed quite unsure of herself, as well as hesitant to approach. the younger one didn’t even seem to notice rhea until she ran smack into her side, looking up with a rather startled as well as comical expression.

but rhae was mildly surprised when the youngster spoke, bringing nothing but the reply gesture of a silently arched brow. her voice came forth as sassy, full of disrespect, and completely as well as utterly naive. she had witnessed such behaviour multiple times in her life, and while she disapproved- it was not her place to teach this youngster proper respect and etiquette. that role was saved for her parents, or guardians, if she even had any. rhae suspected not, but then again, to assume makes an ass out of you and me, and the older female had learned never to assume much in life. immediate and proper facts are what counts most.

still in silent observation, bright, intense teal eyes focus on first one girl, the younger, then the other, the one still lurking within the shadows. she paused a moment longer before breaking the silence with her voice, slightly accented and rich as it was. "why do you stay within the shadows, dear? no one here means ill-will to you or any other." though the adolescent stranger herself could very well mean ill-will, rhae knew for a certainty that she herself did not. as for the young pup, there wasn't much damage she could do in the first place, so the older female did not particularly consider her among 'others.' still remaining in her reclined position, she waited patiently for any reply from the dark hued teenager, occasionally throwing an observant glance toward the pup, wondering idly just what she was doing out and about all on her own. perhaps she had no one to take care of her after all. only with time would she learn.
