News - SUMMER

Summer has arrived. The world has been well at peace, and others seem to be trying to take advantage. They believe we are lazy and complacent. We are no such thing. Remain vigilante, friends and family.

Give your congratulations to Maiko. She has been promoted to Blizzard; she earned it.

We also have an activity check going. Please reply so I can make adjustments accordingly. Check will go for an entire month so we can hopefully capture everyone.

As always, if you have need of me, do not hesitate to find me.

HiDE FROM YOUR FAMiLY

Everything falls apart in the end. Sometimes it’s closer to the end, sometimes it’s farther from the real end, but everything has an end. Dimitri realizes it more and more every day, and today has been the worst of days. Nothing computes… he just… he needs. The illusionist has found every tiny piece of himself that had grown into the oddly warped creature he was shattered, blown into pieces like dust in the wind. Crystals in a cave… crystals… shattered. Everything shattered. Dimitri himself shattered harder than anything else.

He himself had been bloodied, he’d shattered… physically too. Against the rough, glasslike surfaces, he’d thrown himself. They didn’t break, yet his skin tore. There were wounds on his forelegs, but he didn’t care. Maybe if he just kept running into the darkness she’d be there… hurt and confused, but she would be there. He’d run into the caves until he couldn’t see. There had been blood… the scent of the demon king and blood. There hadn’t been Delta. She wasn’t there, and deep down he knew. The caves… he’d been down deeper in the caves than even her scent went. The illusionist made his way as deep as he possibly could, and she wasn’t there. He went farther than he could see, he went farther than… than everything.

And yet she wasn’t there. And he knew. Every last part of him knew. From the inside out the creature shook. It didn’t matter anymore. Everyone… everyone fucking left. They always left. There was always an end, and not enough beginnings. It was like he’d used them all up, he didn’t have… he didn’t have any left. To him it was starting to matter less and less… and less. Things were slipping through his fingers faster and faster, and the young man with the long legs was throwing himself across the land. The corrupter of angels himself needed blood… blood spilling. The only blood that slipped away now was his own. It matted in the shorter, silkier fur of his lower legs… crystals were sharp. Dimitri had begun to break from the inside out, and his heart thundered in his chest.

What he needed was the thing that meant stability and warmth… family. What did he have left of his little broken family anyway? Mom had gotten into something with dad, they weren’t talking any more… no. They weren’t speaking. Father was officially an enemy of the state. Dad… was a little better, but some things had gotten messed up—wasn’t that their nature? Biologically, he was wired to do nothing other than fuck up. At least Sabriel had made out okay. Dimitri couldn’t go to him. It wasn’t right. Something about it felt too… he felt like he was imposing. What was family, anyway? Uncle Hawthorn had to have bigger things to deal with right now… mom. He needed mom.

Like any creature, grown or not, he needed his mother. On long limbs, practically delirious with tired muscles and a spinning head, a dry mouth and a shattered heart, Dimitri drags himself to Diveen. He’s screaming by then, a mewling child. He doesn’t care. There’s nothing big or tough, he’s simply a man that’s been run ragged and dry by the emotion that’s ripping him apart. All the things he didn’t want to feel, all the things he didn’t need to feel were eating him alive. Emotions had broken him open, ripped him to shreds.

He doesn’t care that the scent of Iromar clings to his coat. He doesn’t care that he’s the spitting image of his dad and his father, the exact people that this place didn’t want to see. He just doesn’t care. The love… the love that couldn’t be replaced… she was gone. Sometimes fate moves too slowly. Delta had been his heart, and she was… she was gone. She had been lost to the world, and it as far too much for the illusionist. He needed Pompeii.

And he’s entirely ragged by the time he hits Diveen. Normally skin and bones, he’s even more gaunt looking when he’s this distraught. Rainbow eyes roll in his skull, rove raggedly, looking for the red lady. On fleet feet, the fleetest, he sprints to her den. Dimitri doesn’t lose races. He doesn’t lose—he’s the fastest. Speed and only speed are his concerns, and they fill him up. They drive him on. His concerns fuel him, better than any rocket fuel on the planet. This is the world that’s raised him, and he’s simply cut for all the things in the world. The illusionist crashes forward before the den of the red lady.

Screams. He’s screaming. A child’s screams, and he sounds like a much younger man than he attempts to be. He tries to be so mature, so grown up… and yet here he is, not. “Mother… mom… mom she’s gone… mom… he took Delta away… he took my Delta… mom… she’s…. she’s gone… mother please, he took her away… he took her away from me… she’s gone mom, she’s just gone…. I looked… the caves, her caves, I checked them all… all of them… mom he… he’s… she’s…. mom please…” He’s panting, breath ragged. Dimitri screams until he can’t scream any more. It’s then that he’s simply a shaking, writing mass of skin and bones and silken fur. The only sounds he can even think of hearing are the rushing of blood in his ears, the aching breaths that force their way in and out of his lungs.

It’s as if the illusionist burns alive. He’s shattering on the ground, a man that needs nothing more than the touch of his mother. A pup again, as many become when overwhelmed with grief. The only one that had ever been more… more than family, even… more than anything else in the world… she’d been taken away. His words run on a loop, hoarse as he loses the ability to scream any more. They repeat over and over as if a broken record, and all he can do is shake.

I'd prefer that Yoji goes first... if Isola, Kane or a healer wants to come see what's going on and Lz is okay with it, I'd say go for it.
