Moladion’s powerful, winding river...

I hate seeing him like this, so lost and sad. He starts to walk away and I can't help myself. I have to stop him. I call out to him and thankfully he stops. He swivels a single ear back to listen to me. I can only hope I say what he needs to hear to stop from walking away like this. He finally turns back to face me, tears dripping down his face and my own features fall to see him like this. He doesn't deserve this. He studies me for a moment, hearing my words and I can only hope he's listening, really listening. His tails tarts wagging and slowly his lips draw back into a smile. I watch his eyes and I'm happy to see them start glowing with a little life, a little hope. My own eyes lighten up a bit at this. He lifts his head and I'm happy to see it, a glimmer of the old Sulan coming back, the alpha Sulan. He thanks me and tells me how much the pack meant to him. Suddenly he closes his eyes, ducking his head as he whimpers in pain. I take a hesitant step forward, wishing for once that I knew some healing techniques. I frown in concern, my eyes sad. "I know. I know the pack meant a lot to you. I have a feeling this won't be the last time you are on the throne, Sulan. You are meant to be a leader, a great one." I smile softly, hoping to reassure him. He goes thoughtful for a moment, but his thoughts seem to be good ones. Thinking of his family, perhaps? Of the things he still has? I'm happy for him. Then he tells me that he'll get the peace Cobryn and I deserve. I smile thoughtfully. "I believe you." I return his smile, wanting him to know that I mean every word. |
