aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

Trying to Forget the Past

The brute rose, answering the fae “It is no inconvenience, Chenzii, for the sun is dipping and I shall need to get rest soon as well. I was planning to travel to my favorite grove now anyway, so I shall simply help you find one before I retire.” Kalgalath headed back towards the trees as Chenzii followed him. She was grateful to be back under the cover of the trees. Chenzii always felt uneasy being out in the open and she would much prefer to be under the cover of the trees. Feeling the softer ground covered in the fallen leaves on her pads made her feel more at ease than the gravel near the lake, although the lake was a pleasurable and beautiful place. After a few minutes of walking through the forest a wall of dense trees came into view and Kalgalath again spoke to Chenzii before disappearing through the branches, “It may look like a wall of trees, but travel straight and through.”

As Chenzii looked on at the thick branches that did not seem like they could hold any dens, memories began to swarm her mind. The dense wall of trees reminded Chenzii of the dens that were in Chenzii’s old pack with her mother and brother. The night of the fire flashed through her mind, Chenzii and her brother, Lucien, sleeping together in their den. Hearing her mother’s piercing howl startling her to wake instantly. The young fae had leapt to her feet, pulling her brother who was still fairly young, as he shook himself awake. The smell of smoke and ash came to Chenzii’s nostrils and she could sense the panic of her pack. As Chenzii was running out of the den her mother came bounding over, telling her and her brother to run, pointing with her muzzle in the direction away from the fire. Chenzii started leading her brother to safety, assuming her mother would follow. When Chenzii turned her head to look for her mother she saw her bounding away towards the other dens to warn the other wolves in their pack. Chenzii’s heart leapt with fear seeing her mother running back towards the danger of the fire, but she knew that had to lead her brother to safety. That was the last time that Chenzii saw her mother and it brought great sorrow to her heart to remember that night.

Chenzii shook her head, trying to stop the memories from flooding her mind. The fae pushed forward through the trees, following the large brute towards the groves, anxious to see what it would lead to.
