The Rules
  • There will be no fraternizing with enemies. If you put yourself knowingly in danger, don't expect a rescue.
  • We are only as strong as our weakest link. See to it that you are getting stronger in some skill that is useful, whether it is battling, recruiting, charming, etc.
  • The King and Queen have final say in all matters.
dust becomes us all

Beschea

When she speaks, he finally looks at her fully without having truly heard what she said, and notices for the first time the toll their little jaunt had on her. He's almost embarrassed to see how sweaty and unkempt she looks: not for himself, mind, but for her. Then the unusual curve of her ears catches his eyes; he had almost forgotten about them. With her height advantage on him, her odd ears seem to sit atop her head like a strange dark crown. Blood of my blood, he thinks. He clears his throat, trying to ignore the tickling sensation of more nerves surging through him, and turns to take a drink from the pool in order to clear his head. A hot breeze rustles the grasses around him, but there is no sign of any rattlers, for which he is grateful. He could not deal with a snake in his current state of mind.

Without thinking, he lifts his head from the pool and blurts out, "My father died of a snake bite." That much El Aran had told him, though she had spared him the gory details. Even now it rouses no emotion in him; he had never known his father, so what was there to mourn? Orhan shakes his head suddenly, glancing at tall Arcana almost shyly as he comes out of his reverie. "I don't know why I told you that," he admits, staring at his feet. He remembers the mountainous, thickly-muscled stallion that had been guarding Arcana the day he met her in the badlands all those weeks ago, and decides to ask her about him. "That stallion - the one who, um, theatened me - is he your father?" He peers at her curiously. There was no resemblance between the two, so it was perhaps a dumb question, but he hopes his query will start a proper conversation at the very least.

and when it blows free, so do we."
