The forest stands tall and lush here; ancient trees reach weather-twisted arms to the sky, fighting monster-like storm clouds back with their interlacing fingers. Shadow seems to lurk everywhere you look, but it spills calmly, coolly, inspiring a sense of stealthy calm or protection rather than unease. That is, if you've forgotten what kind of creature might be stalking just out of sight...Abendrot is a land cradled by the dark woods on all sides; in the center, some of the larger trees stay behind to reveal a small plateau - a citadel where this pack can gather and defend itself from invaders. There are, of course, softer sides to the land. Clearings here and there allow the sun to throw down its rays in incongruously resplendent gold showers. Ignore the lingering scents of blood spattered here and there along the borders: those do not concern you. The river on one edge of the territory is playful enough when it hasn't been gorged by violent rain. You can choose to note the ragged claw marks raked down tree trunks and the forest floor as friendly "Home Sweet Home" signs, if you wish.

All who treasure loyalty, order, victory, and the occasional indulgence of raw visceral pleasure are welcome, once they've been approved by the ever-watchful eyes of Abendrot's Alpha. But keep one thing in mind: no matter what your motive, this is not a fool's Paradise. This is the land of soldiers, assassins, and spies. This is ABENDROT.

Make up your mind quickly and prepare to prove your worth. You wouldn't want to add to those blood spatters, would you...?

WINN DIXIE
-----------------------------------------------------------------
She felt a little better after he said she'd passed the test. Even though she was never a high rank, Winn had seen some foolish acts on other wolve's parts. She stood up, ears perked as he asked her if she wanted a certain position. She'd seen the look in his eyes when she looked into them. That made her scared. She realized she had made a big mistake then, but she could redeem herself. Whatever you deem fit for me is good; but I would like to be an assassin or spy. She said, looking off to the side. She wondered how many spies and assassins they had. She'd heard about Abendrot, the whispers about how furious and strong this pack was. She'd taken their word for it and come. Kershov's scent had the tiniest salty trace of blood. Barely noticeable, but there. She paid no mind to it.

And then he asked if she would make trouble. Winn bowed her head down. No, sir, I won't bring shame to this powerful pack. She didn't dare raise her head in fear of making him angry. Winn Dixie was smaller than him, certainly weaker, and she actually valued her life. She wouldn't hesitate to be killed in battle for her pack or another pack member, but to be killed because you were arrogant and rude to a pack leader was one of the most shameful ways to die. At least in her opinion. She hadn't ever seen it happen, as she'd only been in one other pack as a pup, but that pack had fallen to a deadly disease that killed out most of them. Winn Dixie escaped, and to escape, she'd had to kill a wolf from an enemy pack who had tried to kill her. She would remain loyal to Abendrot, no doubt about that. She loved keeping secrets, that slight satisfaction you got from knowing something iimportant. She could keep them, because she knew that the other wolf could very well tell things that Winn Dixie didn't want people to know, either.

She waited, head bowed, for a reply.
