Carden Alvar Nature Board by Bob BowlesCarden Challenge results

This past weekend, 12 teams took part in the Carden Challenge, to find the most species in a 24-hour period within the Carden CBC. This year produced a total of 149 species, including 23 warblers. The winning competitive birding team was Steven Price, Biz Agnew, Gregor Beck and Matt and Adam Timpf, with 133 species. In the Biodiversity category, the top team included Susan Blayney, Kathy Parker, Alex Mills, and Chris Evans. Two new birds for the Challenge, now in its 7th year, were Orchard Oriole and Lesser Yellowlegs. Among them, the 12 teams raised nearly $23,000 for stewardship of protected properties on the Carden Alvar. Well done, everyone!
