News - SUMMER

Summer has arrived. The world has been well at peace, and others seem to be trying to take advantage. They believe we are lazy and complacent. We are no such thing. Remain vigilante, friends and family.

Give your congratulations to Maiko. She has been promoted to Blizzard; she earned it.

We also have an activity check going. Please reply so I can make adjustments accordingly. Check will go for an entire month so we can hopefully capture everyone.

As always, if you have need of me, do not hesitate to find me.

I managed an irritated snort of sorts, eyes rolling at her obvious consternation at my having woken her up, as if I did it every day, as if I frequently felt the need to get up in the middle of the night, in the middle of winter and waste my time nudging her in consciousness! Alright, maybe I was going a little overboard, but I’m nervous, I don’t know how to do this right and considering everything I do tends to turn out wrong….or into a war as the case of Iromar maybe I have reason to be worried. Hell, what if it doesn’t work right? What if we don’t match like we’re supposed to, like Heyel and Zeivah did? Then again…..she is my soul, my everything, mother of my children…..I don’t even have words for what she is and what she means and maybe that’s why I want it to work so badly, to just go right. I just- want her to be everything I believe she is. It’s an old tradition, older then even Heyel and really that’s saying something in my opinion, surely he has to die soon doesn’t he? I sighed, trying to ease my displeasure at these foreign feelings within myself. I don’t do nervous, or apparently I don’t do it well. My tail flicked in agitation as I waited, irritated at myself more then anything, at my inability to just do anything…normally, calmly or apparently romantically managing to have snorted at my imprint already. Great start.

I would have groaned at my own volatile temperament if not for Andromeda’s emergence from the den in those moments, her shoulder brushing against my own, my skin given to feel as if static brushed so teasing against it, every fibre within my being desiring to curl around her with want and need far beyond the simple call of winter. I don’t desire anything within my existence except her, there will never be another and I simply wish to make it…official in the way I was taught how. I managed my own grin, white pelt aglow in the moonlight and atop the equally light snow as she spoke, ears curving delicately towards her to absorb the soft tones of her voice before her muzzle nudged at the base of my own, a whine of pleasure, desire and simple need I suppose coiling within my throat as my jaws parted, tongue licking at her own muzzle in a brief touch of affection before I lifted my head once more, raising to my feet, shaking off the snow that had fallen against my back, brushing against her as I moved to face her once more. Don’t be nervous she says, ha, yeah, like your entire ability to be mate-worthy doesn’t depend on it. I desired against any such sarcastic comment, after all, that will only start an argument and that is not the point of the night, not really. I’m just…insecure about this I suppose. I shook myself once more, pushing such unwelcome thought away. I was Azrael, Angel Prince, Angel of Death, father of Guardian, Starfall and Meryl….I could do this and I could do it damn well.

"It’s very old, a tradition I suppose, from Heyel’s homeland, Father’s teach their sons and it’s passed down in this way. It’s like a…dance of sorts. Where Heyel comes from mates aren’t chosen in the traditional way, you don’t meet a girl and just wait for something to happen. Each winter any wolves aged four and over without mates would gather and the males would move amongst the females, asking one after the other of their choosing to, well, dance I suppose. The dance is a hunt without any words, to see if you may be lucky enough to find the one who moves completely in sync with you, to find the one who can create and take life with you, the one who moves and breaths with you. In Heyel’s homeland there are other rules, wolves of some bloodlines would never ask certain females to dance for it would be considered improper for a higher male to be with a lesser female…..but, Heyel still asked Zeivah to dance. She was- disgraced when he first met her, she was broken in a way, in the old days it would have been a shocking scandal for him to have even approached her, his blood being so much higher then hers in the old ways and yet….he said he knew within the first moments that Zeivah was his partner, now and forever and I…..want us to try.”

I managed another smile, soft and handsome in the moonlight as I reached towards her once more, licking at her cheek momentarily before pulling back once more, turning silently upon the snow, waiting for her to come to my side, long stride easily matching her own as I led us towards the open fields of Diveen, muzzle already lifted to the air, seeking any hint of prey upon the wind, pelt brushing against her own though indeed it was hard for my mind to truly focus on anything beyond her presence, beyond the scent of winter that lingered around her. We already moved together to some extent, by some miracle, even if she was black of pelt, fate had at least had the foresight to give my soul to someone who was- well, my size. She is hardly a delicate creature, her form is tall, broad, powerful and….beautiful though I hardly ever tell her as such. It’s just not my way, it’s just not how I was raised and indeed though I know Heyel was affectionate with my Mother he never showed us…….he was never that way when anyone was looking and I suppose, despite my emotional instability, despite my inability not to feel so deeply, so profoundly I have inherited something of that. I should be more- affectionate with her, especially when the children are looking, they should see more bristling fur and us yelling at each other. She makes me mad sometimes, beyond mad and yet, if her kidnapping had taught me anything it was that I was entirely incapable of living without her.

Violet blue eyes drifted towards her as we moved, running across the fine lines of her form as my own powerful frame moved against her, toned, hard muscle and handsome features reflected within her own golden gaze before I paused once more within the shadows of the trees, the plain of DIveen sprawling before us, a small herd of Pronghorn clipping at what shoots of grass they could find at the base of one of the cliffs, eyes resting easily upon them, their scents thick on the air that blew towards us before I turned to my Stella once more.

"We don’t speak once we start, if it’s right it will just….be, we should be able to move entirely as one, the dance finishes when we make our kill and we can speak again. So, Stella…..will……will you dance with me?”

The air was cold and the space before us so open, the stars lighting up the sky above us as the breeze teased at my thick pelt once more, the first tendrils of adrenaline beginning to tease at my form, the desire to run, to chase moving within my veins, a new sense of eagerness touching my form as I looked back towards her, finding her gaze, holding it, a new kind of confidence finding my form as I stood before her. It would be right- I already knew that.
