aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

leila

Discreetly Leila observed as the female approached, shyness glowing from her autumn coloured bodice. As the female settled herself, Leila remained quiet but silently glad her invitation had not been discarded into the dust. The darkened phantom could sense her aggravation even before the lyrics tumbled from her maw. ‘I’m not sure ‘interesting’ is the word that Kalgalath would use to describe me. More like ‘untrustworthy’ or ‘defector’. He didn’t seem to be a big fan of me. But as for company, I could do with some company as well. I came here because I wanted to find a pack that would become my new family… and I feel like I got off on the wrong foot. I’m not the easiest wolf to get along with, I know… but…’ She trailed off then, leaving Leila feeling the upmost sympathy for the lady. “Well, if you are trustworthy then you’ll have nothing to fear.” Her words were singed with a barricade of defiance and strength but above all, optimism. She followed Hellene’s gaze towards the pack land, she could only hope Kally would allow Hellene the opportunity in this pack. It was nice... And everyone was friendly here, apart from perhaps, Kally at times.

Her following words were possessed by the strongest passion, only wishing to pass her friend as not a wolf of malice or anger. Leila knew Kally wanted only for the best for his pack, for his family who had warmed to him from the first days of his throne. She had flourished in his pack; she had gained morals and the importance of friendship. And she would not see Kalgalath bad mouthed no matter if he had been so quick to judge. Wasn’t it better than allowing every wolf in without even assessing their compatibility? She thought so.

A small smile spread upon the tip of her maw as Hellene marvelled at something. She had guessed it was something to do with her lyrics although she could not judge what. It might have been the choice of remaining by Kalgalath’s side throughout his stupidity. Although – Leila mused – was it stupidity? He was only doing it for the best reasons though the phantom decided he had not required to do it so harshly. Upon her following words, the female seemed to gape at her like she was engulfed by increasing madness… It may have been her way of describing his behaviour. And Leila guessed it was in fact this. She didn’t care. She had no reason to fear his wrath. The spectre had been under many wolf’s anger before. “I’ll trust you, though, to keep that to yourself. I don’t want to be accused of bad mouthing my friend. If I see him some when then I will try to put in a good word for you,” she offered. “Unless of course, you turn out to be someone utterly, utterly horrible,” Leila teased, a small laugh escaping from her closing jaw.

‘I cannot believe that you trust me so easily – I understand more why he would not. But my sister and I… well we came here a while ago. We stayed on our own for a long while. She… well she wanted a pack. And I didn’t, I wanted it to just be the two of us, but I went along with it. But then she abandoned me there, and no one at Spring Grounds tried to be my friend. That is why I left there, and why I am here.’ Leila nodded in understanding; it appeared the fae was someone who was completely accustomed to living with others. “To say I trust you does not necessary mean I would trust you with my life but I would trust you enough to allow you a home. We have enough space, and a growing pack means only a future for this land. I have been known to be a good judge of characters. And you do not look like someone to something without reason and without consideration. And as you have told me – you had your reasons.” She stopped, inhaling deeply.

“Did Chiron show you the lake in Aurora Borealis? It is one of my favourite places in this pack land.”
