At the densest section of the forest, there is a brief clearing where a steady flow of water streams down the slippery stone staircase. The water here is cool and refreshing. Staircase Falls has been rumoured to be the place where reality is met by magic; where peaceful spirits dwell. They are rumoured to have healing powers that are used to help the desperately hurt, though no one has experienced this, except for, perhaps, Kaive.

He couldn't help but stare at his reflection in the clear water. He looked so much like his mother. But lets face it he didn't even remember Kenii. The man who was his so called father. He didn't even remember the man, which showed that he was never around. He barely remembered his sister Pezzi, Kenii took her with him. Kenii was never there for any of them, not even for Aces mom when she was having them. Ace could always remember his mom so tired , crying , and frustrated. She was basically a kid herself when she got pregnant. A teen, not able to really take care of herself. His mom had grown to be so stressed out all the time she dropped him off at his aunts den. His aunt Timber and her family took him in for a little while, until he ran off. He had felt like such a burden. His aunt had always been much more of a mother. He wasn't sure what had happened to her and her family after he had left. Their den was at rainbow cliff. He came back and they were all gone. He didn't just run off because he felt like he was a burden. He also ran off to see if he could find his mother. He asked a lot of wolves about her. He got word that she had completely left blossom forest. He heard that she had became alpha somewhere. He was proud of her. Even though she left him, he didn't care. Okay he really did care. But she left without a goodbye. He thought she would come back for him like she had done all the other times. But he was wrong.

He was like his mother. He was brave and he would tough it out the best that he possibly could. Even though the thoughts of his mother kept going through his mind he kept staring at himself in the pool of water. His white pelt had become dirty within the past couple of days, which made his dark blue orbs stand out even more. A little dirt never hurt anybody, but he would agree that he needed a bath. Without any further hesitation he leaped into the water. "Ah! Cold! Cold! Cold! Brrr." He screamed as he resurfaced. But despite the cold water he decided to stay in for a little longer. Finally after cleaning himself and a while of splashing and playing by himself he crawled onto the bank and tried shaking some of the water out of his shaggy pelt with no success. Times like this he really missed Kiara. She would have been right there with him, splashing and playing and laughing with him. He didn't like being alone.

He couldn't help but just cry thinking about her. How could she have just left without a goodbye. How could she have just left him period. It wasn't fair. She couldn't have just expected him to be fine with her leaving. Maybe the thought that she didn't think twice about leaving him was what hurted the most.

Ace had only been on his own for a little while now. He didn't get to eat as much as he used too. How was he even supposed too? He was so little he could barely catch anything. It just wasn't fair. He had always been a really small pup, but even now he had lost some weight. He was nowhere being annorexic but he was small for his age. He couldn't help it. He was so hungry, so miserable, so lonely, and so unloved. He really couldn't help it. He couldn't always be a brave little soldier. Tears seemed to just pour out of his eyes. He had no strenth to keep them from coming. So he just sat there on the shore. Crying. The sun barely poking out through the tree cover above. Surely nobody would come by here. And even if they did they would find a heartbreaking sight. Ace crying, soaking wet, curled up on the shore.
