Enocra Woodland

Pine, spruce and firs alike...
Dense coniferous forests cover the woodlands, with clearings, paths and the occasional wildberry shrub throughout. Pine, spruce and fir make up much of the forest in the east, with the forest becoming swampier in the west towards Mecor Valley. In the west, cypress trees dominate, with fallen trees creating bridges across and throughout the stillwaters.

I wasn’t sure I have ever smelled someone so bad in my life. My face screwed up slightly, I stopped as she continued walking forward, ears falling back slightly and my face resuming its more neutral state when I saw her begin to turn to face me. Her eyes seemed dead, like something terrible had just happened, well her smelling bad could be terrible, I supposed. I know that look though, something deep within told me she was going to attack, rip and tear at me. I was used to that look, even if it was mildly dead and crazed. The lip twitching is her very last warning, showing a pearly white fang for just a moment letting me know she was ready, I didn’t think it was just my words that had her upset, she was already mad, crazy mad too probably.

Her stench was getting stronger, but I did not move as she neared me. I readily awaited her bites, I expected them, she did not have to warn me of what was to come. Her body was edgy, I could see her movements, she was waiting for me to try and run. Funny, I never knew when to run. My hackles instead started to flair slightly, but I did not bare fangs, I just met her dead golden gaze with my bright shining blue-green. My eyes showed my fire, I knew that they could probably be read like an open book. I dared her, dared her to even try to make a move. And it was answered.

She was close, I saw her move and so didn’t I ducking, using my small size to my advantage, I saw her white muzzle flash before my eyes, then the black of her legs, then pain as fangs ran across just below my left eye then hitting my brow. The wounds were not terrible thankfully; just flesh wounds, scrapes pretty much that would bleed a fair bit simply because of their location, later the deeper one on my brow would most likely bleed into my eye. I wasn’t looking forward to that, but at least she didn’t take my eye. She was faster than I expected, I couldn’t believe I was surprised by her given she had such a slender form.

Still I would not be dissuaded, she was fast, but I was shorter than her, more near her legs which were precious to maintain that speed. I did not whimper, but growled; I hated feeling pain, and for even touching my skin. She moved back though before I could attempt my first retaliation. It was lucky I had been put through so much as a young child, even more so now with my constant training as a warrior. I was pushed to my limits, but this real battle for my life; I couldn’t help but think it was enthralling more than terrifying. Perhaps that was the youth in me, still thinking I was immortal, even though I knew it was not true, but death for one so young always looked so far away.

She was not done though, she moved again to bite and this time I was caught, I grit my teeth and snarl with rage, as she tugs I tug myself away back, to end the grasp faster. Stepping back just a single step as she moved likewise, I felt her fangs tear into my flesh leaving two, inch long lines in the side of my neck that were fairly deep. My thick winter neck fur probably saved me from it being much worse, it was flesh, though I could feel my muscle had been hit as well. They bled, I could feel my neck become moist. My neck hurt, I didn’t want to turn it to the right, that hurt worse, stretching the wounds, but I hoped my quick rebound now would catch my crazy attacker off guard.

I move forward, using her height to my advantage. I bear my teeth, just before opening my maw wide and attempting to grip just where the chest and right leg met, gripping where the armpit was and biting down as hard I could. My muscle hurt in my neck, keeping it turned left and not stretched would allot me less pain and a better hold. I predict that she would jump back though, I certainly would, I would be pleased with perhaps gripping the paw joint last moment on her movements, move back, otherwise I hoped to catch her.

Once she moved or I grabbed on I wouldn’t hesitate my assault. I would drive forward, not letting her move to far away. I stepped forward to her left, making my form compact as I could to protect my previous wound as well, turning my head once again to the left to make sure my neck wound would not impede me as badly, it bled it, hurt, it made me angry, and with all the movement I could feel the blood from my brow wound trickle around my eye. I blink it away as I make for my second attack, snapping my head to grip her left leg this time just around the slender middle. I would slow her down, one way or another, and I hoped to drive her away if possible, for now I blessed my lack of height, Though I knew it also came with a slightly less of strength I hoped all my training paid off and in the end I would be victorious in battle. After I hit I braced myself, sure she would not take well to my barrages, I was ready for more pain.
