I WILL NOT DIE, I'LL WAIT HERE FOR YOU
Cobryn had heard about the new alpha -- alphas? -- and was not sure how he felt about the whole situation. Males being together? Why? How did that even make sense? Yet he had no real reason to be upset about it unless they were really out there with how they ruled. Otherwise he would leave it alone and live peacefully for as long as he could manage. He hoped that would be for a very, very long time. He was happier then he had been in months. He was looking up about things and life in general, and Enigma was the reason why. She had convinced him -- not by words or anything she might know of -- that it was possible that there could be a happy family for him after all. He had waited so long and had tried so hard so many times... He needed this to work.
And now Enigma was pregnant, and she absolutely glowed from it. She was his shining star, his light in the dark. And there had been some dark times for him. Enigma had helped him out, and now he was functioning more normally then he had been in a long while. More smiles, he hunted, he was even playful this Winter. It had led to the act that promised new pups come Spring, and Cobryn was even excited for it. There had been Winters where he simply did not even want to think about offspring, but this time it felt right. This time he could not feel anything wrong, not even a hint. Before there had always been something lingering in the back of his mind that he should have taken warning with. But he had wanted a real family so badly, and had loved the females he'd been with.
Enigma outshined them all by far, though. She stuck with him and he was able to see exactly how pure of heart she really was. She was an angel far more then any of those who claimed to be, and she saved him. Not just physically, but emotionally and mentally and kept him from giving up all hope. Cobryn almost had. He had been so close after Mockingbird had attacked him and Jaidah had gone with Jumanji. Enigma had kept him alive and gave him encoragement. He had thrived better after that. Now he was feeling closer to his old self; more confident and lively. He had hopped right to hunting more to feed his mate and thier unborn children with a bounce in his step. They had a home, pups to come and each other. Cobryn needed nothing else. He wanted nothing else.
The nap he was taking was without nightmares as well as most of the others lately. It was nice, and helped keep his mood up. Enigma's voice caught his attention and shook him from sleep, and he opened one eye to peek at her, just as she nipped his nose. With a surprised sound, he blinked, then got to his paws to stretch. He grinned after Enigma's moving form, then trotted after her, bounding closer after a minute or so to be at her side. He aimed a nuzzle at her shoulder; too lost in that to notice the odd vibe around him. The pull that tugged at his mind. Everything within him was so overjoyed at the new chance of a family that he couldn't keep his eyes -- or some part of him -- off of Enigma. His nose in her furs, side pressed to hers, whatever worked.
When Enigma slowed he followed suit, finding it easier to shower attentions on her in subtle -- or not so subtle -- ways as they went closer to the meeting. Cobryn could hear voices, and one in particular made him confused, but he shoved that feeling aside. Must be someone he knew awhile back and hadn't seen in a long time. Yeah, must be it, cause he could not place the voice with a name or appearance. When Enigma stepped from the bushes, he kept his nose buried in her ruff, letting her guide him to wherever she wanted to stand or sit. He can feel the way she moves, and it makes him puff up with pride. Then an otherworldly sensation kicks in and he shivers. When Enigma sits, he finally glances around. And his world stops.
