News 08.08.2021
Change was long overdue in Spirane. Now that I have learned who is still an active presence within the pack, the ranks have been updated. As I once took time away from the pack, so too now shall Kalseru. Know that she is still second in command of the pack, as is reflected in her rank. Once you are familiar with the new ranking system, if you would like to change positions or move up in the ranks you need only ask. Let this be a time of new life in Spirane, and a promise of great things to come!

When the snows fall and the white winds blow, the lone wolf dies, but the pack survives.

Avalanches were dangerous things. Dangerous, unpredictable and powerful. I had sensed it's potency in the air even as I roamed far beyond the borders of Moladian. I still felt weak. My first litter of Cubs had been a taxing and dangerous time for me. Shamans were not meant to be mothers and it took a great toll on their bodies. I had thought my second birth would be easier, with only one cub in the litter but in truth it was even worse then my first. And after weeks of den rest and still not putting on weight or recovering from fatigue I'd been forced to go out into the wilderness and find the necessary medicines the Spirits deemed adequate to heal me.

I still felt lethargic from time to time, and drowsy. But The spark in the air had had my head reeling and my legs sailing for home. I was winded and breathless as I loped the many long hard miles back to Spirane's borders, but I refused to stop. Ignored the burning in my muscles and screaming of my paws. My eyes ached with the beginnings of a dull headache but I continued on until at long last I felt the familiar rocky terrain of my homeland.

My heart sung in my chest, rejoicing at my return. But the feeling does not last as I take notice of one side of the mountain, where the snow shelf above had collapsed and an avalanche had befallen it's face. I moved up the mountain slopes, one long meoldic note ringing out in hopes I'll hear a reply from someone. Were the youngsters ok? had anyone been hurt? Where was Alcide?

I crested the ridge that overlooks my den, heart nearly sinking when I see it has been covered by a tick wall of snow. But then little bodies stand out against the white, and I recognized them as my children. By Blood or bond. There were cubs from other mothers there as well, but I am disgruntled that no adults were there to see to their care. Where had everyone gone?

Brows furrowed in concern, I hold my head higher, ignoring the fatigue that threatens to slip into my eyes and putting on a mask of calm serenity and ultimate authority.

"Swallowbane, Ceal!" I call to my two eldest of the group as I approach. "Is everyone alright? Are any of you hurt?" I glance around the group, nuzzling Ceal and nipping lightly at Swallows' ear before I catch sight of my tiny Daenerys. My heart nearly stops at the sight of her. My baby girl, for whom I have spent hardly any time. I move over to her and wrap her between my paws gently. "Hey there baby.... hows my littlest star? I have missed you so much, all of you. I am so sorry I was not here when you all needed me."

I feel a pang of guilt as I glance around the group, falling on Butterfly, a daughter of Rainbow, and then lastly to Taliesin. He and his litter had been left in my care shortly after my own birth. Their mother could no longer care for them and I had promised her that I would see to their welfare.

I had not done that fantastic of a job, illness or no. But I would see that rectified beginning now.

"Taliesin," I speak his name, reaching over to gently cuff the boys shoulder with my paw. "It is so good to see you, Love. I'm glad to see you are all well."

my attention returns to Swallowbane. He is perhaps the most brooding and difficult of all my children. But in many ways, he has been my favorite. He reminds me of his grandfather, my dad Thunderbone. "Swallow, where are the others? How come no adults have come to see to the youngsters?"

I was very disgruntled by this, and though I could plainly see my son was not in the sort of mood to play babysitter maybe he'd indulge me in some of the going-ons while I had been away.
