At the densest section of the forest, there is a brief clearing where a steady flow of water streams down the slippery stone staircase. The water here is cool and refreshing. Staircase Falls has been rumoured to be the place where reality is met by magic; where peaceful spirits dwell. They are rumoured to have healing powers that are used to help the desperately hurt, though no one has experienced this, except for, perhaps, Kaive.

Trying to Forget the Past, This Was Never Meant to Last

Chenzii was glad that her and Lucien had time to briefly discuss what was going on in their lives now. She knew it would take more than one afternoon to catch up on all she had missed in his life, but for now their conversation was more than she could have hoped for. She told of how she had found Aurora Borealis and then later stumbled into him, a happy surprise. The brute nodded at her, understanding her words about her pack. When she asked if he had a pack he shook his head, “No, I prefer the life of a loner.” Chenzii was not surprised by this answer, he had always been more of the loner type than a pack type. She hoped that he at least had a friend or two here, but he had always closed off his emotions and appeared entirely blank, as if he didn’t care about anything when he was around other wolves. She hoped he had opened up his hard outer shell to let some other wolves in. He continued to speak, “But you probably already guessed that didn’t you,” he teased her gently. She nodded with a smile in response.

He continued to speak, with a smile on his maw, “But enough about my boring life. What about you Chenzii? Do you have a mate now? Maybe even pups? Do you like your pack? What’s happened since we were separated?” Lucien shuddered slightly as he asked her many questions and she wondered what could be going through his mind, knowing the dark past that they both had to cope with. “Well Lucien, a lot has happened.” She smiled unconsciously at her next words, “I do have a mate as of recent. His name is Chiron and he also lives at Aurora Borealis. We do not have pups, yet anyways. I love my pack, everyone is very friendly and it really feels like home there. The alpha, Kalagalath, is a great and fair titan, one who rules well and I proudly pledge my loyalty to him. As for what happened to me, well…I wandered for a few years, learning how to hunt small game and survive on my own. Then I stumbled into this place and found Aurora Borealis and thus my new home.”

She paused after her long speech, knowing there was so much more she could say about her past, but for now what she had said would do. She wanted to hear more from Lucien, about his life and what had been happening with him. She opened her maw again to ask him some questions of her own, “What of you Lucien? Do you have any friends here, or a mate? What happened with you when we were separated?” Chenzii smiled at Lucien, hoping he did not have too much of a dark past that he carried with him.
