Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

I feel the satisfying thud of a collision, my bulky mass crashing into the smaller version of Vidar like a semi hitting a pickup truck. He falls to the ground with a high pitched yelp, feeding my rage as I hear the yelp of my Fathom, the sound she wouldn't dare to let escape her mouth. She was too proud for such emotions, such weakness. She died cursing the world and making me proud. I wouldn't have it any other way. He tries to scramble to his paws but I'm on him quickly, snapping at every part of him. I would be okay with a quick grasp of the jugular, a quick end, but he's squirmy and irritating, pulling his face out of reach each time I get close to the tender part that is his eye. I do manage to clamp down on his ear though and I shake my head viciously, slicing the cartilage and tugging on the thin skin, maiming his ear even as I plan for my next move. I don't relent with my weight, holding him there for my own sadistic pleasure. His growls are ignored as nothing more than a rumbling vibration beneath my chest. He struggles to get my teeth away from his ear but I latch on, trying to do as much damage as possible. If I end up deafening him before I kill him, so be it. Anything to show Ruvindra what she's drove me to. I blame her for all of this, her and that mutt Vague. I can sense her close; I knew that she wouldn't run from a fight. Her kind never do. My body ripples with anticipation, though I do still plan to kill the little welp before it's all said and done. If she knows anything about me, she'll know that I was raised and trained for this, for hunting them down should they somehow manage to get away. I hear her snarl as I flick an ear toward her while digging mercilessly into her son's ear. Bring it on. I ready myself for the assault, knowing it's coming and I wait. I bide my time until her breathing ebbs, letting me know that she's about to make her move. I move when she does, rearing up on my hind legs as she rushes my head, bringing my fore paw around in a forceful slap with claws to the side of her muzzle. I jerk my head back out of her reach but not before feeling her fangs rake across the underside of my neck, achingly close to my own vitals. Instead of feeling fear, I only feel the rush of adrenaline that tells me this is only getting started. I hope I manage to give her a gash or two but in the meantime, I laugh at her, a full fledged laugh, something cold and sadistic, not at all jovial. My golden eyes glow with a fire they haven't seen in years. My body ripples with energy, raw deadly energy. She keeps coming and I welcome it, driving forward as she comes to meet me. I drop my head under her snapping jaws, diving low and then arching my shoulder up toward her chest to jar it into her, perhaps take the breath out of her. At the same time I duck my head under her bottom jaw and snap it up in an instant, aiming to crack the top of my head on the bottom of her jaw. Sure, it'll probably give me one hell of a headache later but I'm only thinking of the damage I can deal to her right now. Twisting out from under her to the right, I snake my neck around, snapping my powerful jaws at the side of her neck, aiming to take hold and use my weight to toss her off balance. If that doesn't work, I'll swing my haunches around to slam them into her ribcage, hoping that'll give her a nice little reality check on just who she's dealing with here. In the meantime, I'm just playing with her, if she can't notice. I'm only aiming to hurt her, distract her so I can get back to the real prize.... Speaking of, I can't let him get away while his mother tries to distract me. If she lunges around for a bite at me, I'll lunge down at her from above, always trying to have the upper hand so I can bite down on the top of her muzzle and force her head down to the ground. Once there, I'd place my paw firmly on top of her head and put some weight on it to grind her head into the ground. I never take an ear off of Vidar though, always ready to launch at him snapping if he even thinks to skirt away during all this. Now I wouldn't be surprised if the little pest decides he can defend his mother. He is a brood of the two wolves I hate, after all. That'd be even better for me if he did since I wouldn't have to keep looking for his exit strategy to cut him off at the pass. I'd just have to welcome him in with open jaws every time he makes a dash at me. I try to keep him on the ground where he's vulnerable, diving at his body every time he thinsk to move. I snap at his legs, his shoulder, his head, anything I can reach while still keeping his mother in check. Call me a damn good multi tasker. I've done this for years, kiddies. I've killed packs in a matter of days, taking them out one by one and in groups. I've had my fair share of close calls and yet I've survived them all. Taking on a distracted mother and a half wit son? Piece of cake. Vidar should be dead within the hour, and then maybe I'll have some real fun with Ruvindra, show her just what she's been missing.
