The Cavern of Secrets holds much more than you can imagine. Once a forbidden place, the ban on entrance has been released...yet, is it a good idea to enter?

Once a great battle had been fought in this cavern, against a dark beast that had once - and still might - dwell here. No one knows where he disappeared to, but there are rumours...

Quiet places had a distinct charm to a wolf like a ghost, a wolf like a spectre in that he was there and gone all at once. A wolf like Batteur fit this description, lanky and big and yet the most unnerving part about him was the ever present, almost chilling calm that iced over his snow-white fur like a sickness. And yet, perhaps it was no wonder why he liked such unnervingly quiet places as the caverns, long since abandoned and only carrying a slight scent of decay and mostly that of mold and mildew in their vast system of hallways. They had a way of echoing words, of mirroring and twisting them to come from all sides, from the opposite end of the system, from above or even from outside. A drop of condensation that fell from a rock formation in one hallway could amplify its sounds on the oddly angled and positioned walls of stone and make itself much louder by the time it reached the ears of a wolf in the next hall over, make it sound less like a drip and more like a yelp.

And yet, even at his distance, the sound of blunt claws on stone was unmistakable. There was another wolf in the cavern, something he had been prepared for but hadn't exactly expected. It wasn't exactly a favorable place to be, with no prey in the immediate area and the ever-present feeling of being watched and hunted. Such a thrill was one that Batteur thrived on, one he knew all too well. But why would a lesser being desire such a thing? Or were they even aware of it when they set paw into this place? A low hum sounded itself in Batteur's throat as he made his way, slowly and with much meandering, towards the approximate source of the pawsteps. He couldn't be entirely sure that the wolf responsible lay in this direction, as even his ears were not immune to the cavern's resonating and misleading effects. However, he figured that the worst that would happen is he wouldn't find the wolf and it might... die or something, would anything really bother kill it in here? It was such an empty place; short of say, a protective mother bear, nothing should be so needlessly violent.

Then again... Batteur paused short of placing his paw in a rather stagnant looking puddle, setting it instead gingerly to the side.

Some wolves could be needlessly violent. A result of their smaller brains, he wouldn't wonder, or perhaps some inert neurological condition passed down along the line of no doubt incestuous ancestors. He let out a gentle huff through his nose and carefully avoided the puddle before moving on, noticing as the air chilled over the course of his progression through the cavern.

And then he saw it. The wolf seemed positively terrified of something, and Batteur tilted his head to the side to evaluate his circumstance. The wolf was a female, slighter in build than himself and a deep, coal black. Not anything remarkable or exciting, suffice to say. The dog heaved in a deep breath, causing the cool and moist air to sting his lungs slightly before he could exhale it.

Just another useless pawn he had no reason to play. Ah, but now he was here. Perhaps he could talk to it, work out some information from it, use it that way. After all, it could have some hidden gem of use.

He took a few steps closer, about to speak and tear the wolf back to reality before she turned and ran smack into his chest, pulling a growl from him and forcing one rear paw back to better balance himself to keep from having to retreat a step or buckle under the unexpected push. His rounded ears flicked back and his teeth bore in a snarl, ivory sharps and ebony gums standing in stark contrast to each other.

"Do you have no ears on your head?"
