round two!

Omni was waiting for them when they touched down in Shaman.

“Well now,” he exclaimed, “wasn’t that fun?”

He rolled forwards and backwards on the balls of his feet while his companions collected themselves. All those who had not attained a relic, he sent home with a snap of his fingers, leaving those clutching their sacred ornaments to struggle to their feet. Once they had all gathered around in a circle again, as if they had never left, Omni giggled and snapped his fingers a second time. For all but three of those gathered, the relics in their hands vanished.

“Those of you who still have relics, follow me!” He told them excitedly. “Those without, I am afraid your journey ends here.”

Without pausing, he skipped away across the void, surprisingly light on his feet for such a round little fellow. All around them, the stars smiled. Omni did not travel far – just far enough to ensure that his new group of favourites were separated from the stragglers beginning to turn to home – before stopping and clapping his hands happily. Here they were, his three: Croe, Reece, and little Gaiane. All girls, this year! That meant more, more more fun! Omni indicated for them to form a horizontal line in front of him, as if they were an audience and he were a performer, before snapping his fingers a third time. Next to him, three more people with very famous faces materialised: Rhaegar, Mallos and Tsi. Apparently none of them had been informed that they were about to take a trip across Shaman, because they all had identical expressions of numb surprise. Mallos recovered first and, recognising Omni, looked for a second as if he was seriously considering making a break for it. Before he had a chance to decide or either of the others had much opportunity to react, Omni clapped his hands and the three of them slumped to the floor, unconscious.

“And here we have round two of our little competition!” He squeaked happily. “Your task is, on the surface of it, simple. You will go back to Earth and return the relic you stole to its rightful place, then come back to Shaman via the magic mirror in the Palace of Versailles. This time, however, there is a catch.” He clapped his hands again, and as the deities had done, the three contestants slumped to the ground in a deep sleep. A second later, they awoke to find themselves in the bodies of the three deities: Reece in Rhaegar, Gaiane in Tsi, and Croe in Mallos. “For the duration of this round, you will be possessing your gods,” Omni informed them as they got to their feet and tried to adjust to their new bodies. “You have full use of their magic for this period. Have fun, my dears!”

And, with a tip of his hat, he vanished.

So. For the duration of round two, you cannot post your character as they are; you can only post them possessing the deity you have been assigned. You cannot see your deity’s memories/read their mind/etc – you simply have control of their body and divinity. In theory you can do anything, no rules, but please remember that we have the power to reverse anything you do after round two is up.

Reece is possessing Rhaegar,
Gaiane is possessing Tsi,
and Nepenthe is possessing Mallos.

If you want information on any of these deities, remember to check the Religion page under Adhere or look on the boards for posts by these characters.

Unlike in previous years, this year you have a task to complete. Your task is to travel to Earth, return the relic you stole, and return to Shaman via the magic mirror in the Palace of Versailles. You can do this in as many posts as you like. This is a compulsory part of round two and you must complete it in order to stand a chance of winning, but you do not have to spend a long time on it if you don’t want. You will not be judges solely on this post. For the duration of round two, you may post as your possessed deities anywhere in Shaman. All posts you make during round two as your possessed deity will contribute towards the contest (including speed-threads), so if you would prefer to do a shorter return-to-Earth post and spend more time in ordinary threads around the site, then that’s fine.

As before, you have 10 days in round two, so until midnight BST on July 5th. There is a possibility of a four-day extension if you require it, but please do not rely on this.
As always with Omniety, the key elements we are looking for are creativity and writing ability (in addition to grammar/spelling etc, this includes how well you are able to execute your idea). Take a bit of time to research the place where you want your fairy to end up and proof-read your entries before you put them up.

Please make the most of this opportunity. Round two is meant to be as much a reward as part of the contest, so enjoy your unlimited magic use while it lasts!

*UPDATE 4/Jul
Extensions granted to all, new deadline: 9th July at midnight GMT
