Rosaline

The cold had been something she had grown up with, although quite often she had heard Everett moan about how the cold had reached her bones , made her jaws ache. Rosaline was used to the way the wind seemed to bite with a bitter chill, especially in winter. The Summer months, contrary to many people’s assumption, were quite warm in Tinuvel, although the nights still had the same frosty feeling it did in winter. But it was nothing like the Shore, the waves didn’t crash romantically on the Cove’s shore, they smashed against the rocky beach with a wild ferocity. Atlantis was beautiful, Tinuvel was untameable.

“I would love to shore you, If my father doesn’t mind me bringing a strange man home,” she laughs at that, and tries to imagine what Array’s reaction would be. With a shake of her head she pushes through the various scenario’s she had conjured and followed him over the sand and into the warm calm waters.

For a minute she doesn’t even notice the beauty of the world around her, her eyes are busy watching him and the way the fascination lights up his tanned face – it brings a smile to her lips. It was something she had seen in her father a few times, an undeniable love for the land he had chosen to protect – Rosaline admired it. When she finally drags her attention to the water, and what lived beneath it, she let out an audible gasp.

It was so different from the barren waters of Tinuvel, alive with colour and creature’s she had never seen before. Like Debonaire Rosaline moved her head a little closer, accidently dipping her nose into the water and sending ripples across the surface, she snorted, breathing in the salty liquid and started backwards. That was when she heard the splash, her head lifted upwards.

She had seen orca’s before, they often hunted in the cold waters of Tinuvel, but she had never seen them in warmer waters. They were a decent sized pod, spring had granted them a child and every now and then Rosaline could see its smaller dorsal fin rising from the water’s surface. She let out a bout of laughter and bumped her shoulder against Debonaire’s, “Looks like I’m not the only visitor you have today!” she says once the show is over, turning to watch him through glistening blue eyes, “Visiting here has definitely been worth my time already.”
